VALORANT's party system failed to create a party for you, so you can't get past the main menu.

What to try first

Fully restart the Riot Client from the system tray and launch VALORANT again.

Riot's table carries a warning. Riot has flagged its VALORANT code list as out of date, because a bug is making some VALORANT errors show up wrong. If the steps here don't match what you're seeing, Riot suggests a support ticket.

Is it you or Riot? If a lot of players got the same code at once, it's likely the servers. Check Riot's service status page for VALORANT before you start reinstalling things.

Every match starts with a party

Even solo, VALORANT puts you in a party of one when you log in, and you queue from there. VAL 51 means that step failed. Riot's table says there's an issue with the party system and gives one fix, restarting the Riot Client.

If the restart doesn't work

Check for an outage next, on the status page or the VALORANT Discord. If nothing's reported and VAL 51 keeps coming back after full restarts, open a ticket with Riot. Mention any other codes you've seen in the same session, since Riot currently says its code table is out of date.

Riot's fix, in Riot's order

  1. Restart the Riot Client

    Close VALORANT, right-click the Riot Client's tray icon and pick Exit. If you can't find the icon, open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc and end RiotClientServices.exe. Start the client again and press Play.

  2. Look for a known outage

    When the fault is on Riot's side, it says so in a banner across the top of its support site and on the official VALORANT Discord. Riot's service status page lists open incidents too. If one matches, nothing on your end will clear it, so wait for the fix.

  3. Send Riot a support ticket

    If the steps above don't clear it, open a ticket with Riot Player Support from the VALORANT support site and include the exact code you saw. Riot can see account-side problems that you can't.
