2026 ranked seasons

Riot splits each ranked year into three seasons. In 2026 the first one opened with the year's first patch, and each season since has started on patch day.

What resets, and when

Your climb carries straight through from one season to the next inside a year. The reset comes in January: Riot says you'll most likely start the new year about a full tier below your final rank, and the highest anyone can start a year is Emerald I (Riot Support).

2026 broke that pattern once, at the top of the ladder. When Patch 26.9 opened Season 2, every Master, Grandmaster and Challenger player in NA, EUW, EUNE, BR, LAN and TR went back to Master 0 LP, visible rank and MMR both. Riot raised the cutoffs in those regions to 400 LP for Grandmaster and 800 LP for Challenger. For apex players there, Season 3 doubles as a second shot at Season 2's rewards: finish Season 2 in Master and Season 3 in Grandmaster, and you get Grandmaster rewards for both at the end of the year (/dev: Apex Tier Ranked Reset).

Victorious skin and season rewards

Every season pays out a Victorious skin. You earn it by winning 15 ranked games in Solo/Duo, Flex or any mix of the two, and your Honor has to be level 3 or higher when the season ends (Riot Support). The 15-win mission restarts with each season, so Season 3's count began on July 29 (Patch 26.15 notes).

Here's what the last season of 2025 paid out, from Riot's own reward list:

• the Victorious Draven skin, plus Draven himself if you didn't own him
• the Victorious chroma for the tier you finished in and every tier below it, except Iron
• a Draven Eternal Series 2 Capsule
• a ranked emote and icon for the highest tier you reached across the whole year
• a Victorious skin border for anyone who earned all three of the year's Victorious skins

Riot usually posts what a season pays out about a month before the season closes. Rewards land after the next season has started. Season 2's arrived shortly after Season 3 opened, and shard transfers stayed switched off until they did (2025 reward list, Patch 26.15 notes).

Ranked 5s

Ranked 5s is Riot's experimental mode for premade teams of five. It only opens on weekends, Friday to Sunday from 4 PM to 2 AM server time, and it keeps its own ladder and rewards apart from the Solo/Duo and Flex seasons above.

Questions

When does LoL ranked Season 3 end?

Riot hasn't announced the date. The last patch on its 2026 schedule is 26.24 on December 9. The final season of 2025 ended on January 7.

Does my rank reset when a new season starts?

Not inside a year. Your rank carries straight from one season into the next, and the reset comes with the new year. Riot says most players start a new year about a full tier below where they finished, and nobody starts one higher than Emerald I.

How do I get the Victorious skin?

Win 15 ranked games in the season, in Solo/Duo, Flex or any mix of the two, and finish the season at Honor level 3 or higher. Your rank doesn't decide whether you get the skin. It decides the chroma.
