Every Champion and How They're Connected
173 ChampionsRuneterra is enormous, and its writers keep making it small. A war between two nations is less interesting than a war between two people who grew up in the same house, so almost every champion on the roster is somebody else's brother, student, widow or unfinished business.
This is the whole roster laid out by where Riot actually files them, with every connection the lore draws between them. Pick a region on the map or search for a champion, and click anyone to read who they're tied to and why.

The Connections
There are 400 links between champions here, taken from Riot's own related-champion listings and from the biographies themselves, and 121 of them are written up. Click any champion to read their connections. These 53 are the arcs that actually drive the lore, sorted by what kind of relationship went wrong.

Blood and Marriage
The lore's actual relatives, plus the marriages that were mostly treaties.
Garen and LuxCrownguard siblings. He's the sword Demacia points at mages, she's a mage, and neither has worked out what to do about that.
Kayle and MorganaTwin daughters of a mortal and an angel, split over whether people deserve judgment or mercy. They have not spoken in centuries.
Nasus and RenektonBrothers who ascended together. One got buried alive with a lunatic and came out one himself.
Darius and DravenOrphanage brothers who both got out by being frightening. One took it seriously and one made it a show.
Cassiopeia and KatarinaDu Couteau sisters, both raised as weapons. One of them stopped being human somewhere along the way.
Yasuo and YoneBrothers, and the single worst outcome on this entire page. Yasuo killed Yone, and then Yone came back.
Ashe and SejuaniRaised together as girls, now holding two irreconcilable claims to the same frozen throne.
Azir and SivirThe same bloodline five thousand years apart. He needs an heir to rebuild an empire and she'd rather be paid.
Ambessa and MelMother and daughter, both Medarda, both certain the other is playing the smaller game.
Talon and KatarinaNot blood. He tried to rob the Du Couteau house, got caught, and got adopted into it instead.
Jarvan IV and Xin ZhaoNot blood either, but Xin Zhao's whole life since the arena has been about the prince who spared him.
Ornn and VolibearDemigod brothers of the Freljord who disagree about whether people should be left alone. They settle it physically.
Lovers and Partners
Pairs who chose each other, with wildly varying results.
Xayah and RakanThe happiest pair in Runeterra, and the only two the game gives shared mechanics. They still disagree about whether the world is worth saving.
Lucian and SennaMarried, then separated by a lantern. He spent years hunting the thing holding her, and got her back changed.
Ashe and TryndamereA political marriage both of them understood perfectly and went through with anyway. It's the functional relationship on this list.
Illaoi and GangplankBilgewater's two largest personalities, with a history neither of them will discuss in front of you.
Master and Student
Somebody taught somebody else, and usually regretted it.
Master Yi and WukongThe last Wuju master took a student because the style dies with him otherwise.
Shen and ZedRaised as brothers under Shen's father. One inherited the order and one took the forbidden techniques and left.
Akali and ShenShe trained under him, then walked out of the Kinkou because balance wasn't stopping anything.
Zed and KaynZed found a child soldier and made him a weapon. The weapon is now arguing with the demon in his other weapon.
Azir and XerathA slave and a prince who grew up as friends. One of them was going to be a god and the other made sure it wasn't.
Brand and RyzeThey studied under the same master. One of them found a rune and stopped being a person.
Lee Sin and UdyrLee Sin went looking for the spirit walker's discipline. What he learned cost him his eyes long before that.
Heimerdinger and ZiggsZiggs wanted to be Heimerdinger and had no patience at all, which is how you get a demolitions expert instead of a scientist.
Ivern and LilliaHe nurtured the Dreaming Tree. She's what eventually stepped out of it.
Betrayals
The knife came from inside the room.
Azir and XerathXerath spent his life engineering the moment Azir stood on the ascension disc, and then took it. Shurima fell the same day.
Nasus and XerathNasus worked out what Xerath was doing and was roughly one afternoon too late to stop it.
Renekton and XerathRenekton dragged Xerath into a tomb to hold him. They were down there for millennia and only one of them stayed sane.
Hecarim and KalistaKalista went looking for the truth about a broken charge. Hecarim ran her through for finding it.
Swain and UrgotSwain sent Urgot somewhere he was supposed to die. Urgot came back out of the ground considerably worse.
LeBlanc and SwainAllies in public, each fully expecting to be standing over the other eventually.
Riven and YasuoRiven's sword killed the elder Yasuo was blamed for. He spent years hunting the wrong person because nobody told him.
Hunters and Hunted
One of them is looking for the other right now.
Gangplank and Miss FortuneShe blew up his ship in the harbor. He'd murdered her mother in front of her first. Neither considers it settled.
Rengar and Kha'ZixA hunter who needs a trophy and a thing that evolves specifically to beat whatever nearly killed it last time.
Lucian and ThreshThresh took Senna's soul. Lucian has been walking toward him ever since, and has never once been talked out of it.
Senna and ThreshShe spent years inside his lantern and came out carrying some of it. She knows exactly what he is.
Vayne and EvelynnVayne hunts demons because one of them destroyed her family. Evelynn is the reason that sentence exists.
Pantheon and AatroxAatrox goaded the Aspect of War into a fight near Targon and won it. The man underneath survived, which was the mistake.
Diana and LeonaRaised together on the mountain, then chosen by opposite Aspects. They're the same argument wearing sun and moon.
Graves and Twisted FatePartners until a job went wrong and only one of them went to prison. They're working together again and it is not resolved.
Gangplank and GravesGraves holds Gangplank responsible for the worst years of his life, and Bilgewater is not a big enough city for that.
Caitlyn and ViA sheriff who works within the law and an enforcer who is the reason the law arrives on time.
Kassadin and MalzaharA man whose family the Void took, walking toward the prophet who opened the door for it.
Sylas and LuxShe smuggled him books and taught him about the world. He used it to become the exact thing Demacia builds prisons for.
Jhin and ShenThe Kinkou held Jhin for years. He's out now, and he considers the people who caged him part of the composition.
Made, Not Born
Somebody built, rebuilt, or ruined the other on purpose.
Singed and WarwickSinged took a man and chemistry and produced something that can smell blood across a city. He took notes throughout.
Viktor and BlitzcrankViktor found an abandoned golem chassis and rebuilt what was inside it. Blitzcrank has been deciding what to do with that ever since.
Jayce and ViktorThey solved hextech together and then split on what it was for. One kept his body and one considered that a limitation.
Braum and TryndamereBraum walked into a pit to stop Tryndamere beating challengers half to death, which is the most Braum sentence available.
Sivir and TaliyahA mercenary and a young stoneweaver who ended up on the same side of a fight with Xerath, mostly by accident.
Viego and KalistaViego's grief broke the world. Kalista died trying to stop it and came back as the thing that punishes broken oaths.
Never Confirmed
Widely assumed, genuinely unstated. Riot has never said it out loud.
Kassadin and Kai'SaEverybody assumes she's his daughter. Their bios describe the same village, the same canyon and the same missing family, and Riot has never once connected them in writing. Neither biography names the other.
Vi and JinxSisters in Arcane, which Riot treats as its own universe. In the Runeterra the game is set in they're an enforcer and the criminal taunting her, and the family part is never stated.
