What to try first
Check League server status, then keep trying to log in. Don't reinstall anything.
Is it you or Riot? If lots of players are hitting this at once, it's probably the servers. Check League server status before you start reinstalling things.
First, check whether League is down
Go to our Is League down? page before you touch a single setting. Error 7 is Riot's own servers running out of headroom, and when that happens it hits a lot of players at the same moment.
Riot's error table (last updated May 19, 2025) describes two ways it shows up. Some players get disconnected. Others find League's basic features stop working. Either way the table treats it as a server problem, so the only fix it offers is patience: keep trying to log in, and check your region's server status for news (the table links Riot's own status page for exactly that).
What not to do
Skip the reinstall, the DNS changes and the driver updates. None of them touch a server that's overloaded, and a reinstall means a long download at exactly the moment Riot's side is struggling. Wait it out and retry.
If it's only you, and it has lasted well past a normal outage, look at Error 1B or the unexpected login error instead. Riot links both of those to your own internet connection.
