How to Beat Jinx
Jinx has no dash, no blink and no escape, and she is still the hardest marksman in the game to run away from once a fight starts going her way.
She is the clearest example in the game of a champion who is entirely a function of the last thirty seconds. Nothing about her is dangerous in isolation. She is slow, she is fragile, she has no way out of a fight she should not have taken, and until she has items she cannot punish anyone for walking at her. What she has is a switch, and the switch is other people dying. Beating her is about never letting the switch flip, and about understanding that the second it does, the fight is a different fight.
- A way to reach her, since she has nothing to stop you arriving
- Enough early pressure to make the safe farming lane unsafe
- The discipline to disengage rather than trade one more time after somebody dies

Jinx Overview
Strengths: What Makes Her Dangerous
- A kill turns her into a different champion. Get Excited! [Passive] hands her the movement speed she does not have, at the exact moment your team most needs to leave, and it chains from one death to the next.
- She chooses her range mid fight. Swapping between the two weapons means the same champion pokes from a distance nobody expects and then shreds at close range, without buying anything to do it.
- She clears waves faster than almost anyone. That is not just farm. It is permanent map pressure, and it is why she gets to sit on a tower while her team does something else.
- Her traps punish the way people escape. They go where you were going to run, not where you are, and they turn a successful disengage into a second engage.
- Her ultimate does not need her to be there. It crosses the map and finishes fights she was not invited to, which makes low health a bad state to walk home in.
Weaknesses: Where You Get In
- She cannot leave. There is no dash, no blink and nothing that makes distance. Every champion who can reach her wins the fight they start, and there are a lot of them.
- She is slow before anyone dies. The speed is a reward, not a baseline. In a fight where nobody has fallen yet she is the least mobile person on the field.
- The early lane is genuinely bad for her. She is short on damage and long on vulnerability for the first several levels, and every aggressive bot lane in the game is built to punish exactly that.
- Her traps are visible and slow. They are a threat, not a wall, and a team that looks where it is walking spends very little on them.
- She needs a front line and she has no say in whether she gets one. Left alone she is a stationary target with excellent damage, which is another way of describing a free kill.
Countering Jinx
Based on the strengths and weaknesses above, beating Jinx comes down to champions who can accomplish at least one of the following:
- Fight her before she has items. This is the counter to her and it is available to almost every bot lane in the game. A lane she farms quietly is a lane she wins later.
- Break off the moment somebody dies. The trade you were winning is not the trade you are now in. Almost every disaster against her is a team that kept going for one extra second.
- Reach her rather than out damage her. She has nothing to stop a diver. Nothing at all. Any champion who can get on top of her ends the fight by doing so.
- Watch where you are walking away. Her traps are placed on the retreat, not on the approach, and the panic route out of a fight is the most predictable thing anyone does.
If you're already locked into the matchup without any of those tools, these strategies still work:
Playing a Bad Jinx Matchup
Shove and roam. She cannot follow, cannot punish a pushed wave except by farming it, and cannot contest anything happening elsewhere on the map.
Force fights where she has to walk somewhere first. A fight that starts on her positioning is a fight she was never able to join.
Buy the health item earlier than feels right. Her damage grows through the fight rather than arriving at the start, so the fight you shorten is worth more than the one you out trade.
Best Jinx Counters
Three ways to beat someone who is either helpless or unstoppable: end the lane before she has items, reach her once fights start, or keep the fight from ever giving her a kill. One counter each.

Ziggs Ends The Early Lane
Ziggs hits her from further away than she can answer. Bouncing Bomb [Q] lands from 850 units on a cooldown of six seconds or less, and Jinx has no dash to get out of the way or onto him, so the early lane turns into a slow bleed.
The towers are the other half. Satchel Charge [W] executes a turret that's low enough, so a lane he's winning loses its outer tower early and Jinx ends up farming under pressure long before her items arrive.

Nocturne Reaches Her Anyway
She has no escape, so the only question is whether anyone can get to her, and he can get to her from anywhere on the map with her team unable to see it coming.
He also blanks the first ability aimed at him on the way in, which matters against a lane that is used to answering a dive with a trap.

Janna Denies The Snowball
Her whole kit exists to stop the death that turns this champion on. A fight where nobody falls over is a fight against a slow marksman with no way out.
The shield and the disengage also cover the exact moment everyone else gets caught, which is the retreat after a trade rather than the trade itself.
Itemizing Against Jinx
The first two are the matchup and the last two are ordinary insurance:

Plated Steelcaps and Randuin's Omen both attack the same thing, which is how much of her damage lands in a fight that is already going badly for you. Frozen Heart is the version for a front line that expects to stand in front of her for a while rather than survive one burst. Guardian Angel is here for a specific reason rather than a general one: the death that would have handed her the speed to finish your whole team simply does not happen.
