Archive post, June 2013. The rune talk in here points at a system that doesn't exist any more, since Runes Reforged swept away marks, seals, glyphs and quintessences in the Season 8 preseason. The lane itself has aged much better. Vayne still has Tumble [Q] and Silver Bolts [W], Draven still lives and dies by catching Spinning Axe [Q], and the reason he's helpless in the half second he spends reaching for one hasn't changed at all. The video is from 2013, so expect an old shop and an old Summoner's Rift.
Since I'm a bit tired today and just roaming the forums, I came across this excellent video guide recorded by m0mentum, a diamond level AD carry player.
In this video he goes over the matchup between a Vayne/Lulu versus an Alistar/Draven lane. Although the skill gap between the two players is quite large, he goes mentions some important general tips regarding AD carries that's a good lesson for people who are new to AD carry and even as a refresher course for those who have been doing things for so long that they've forgotten why they do them.

Highlights:
- Since Draven's damage is almost all auto-attack based, every time he goes for a last hit he's a sitting duck (unlike champions like Graves who can still retaliate with a good chunk of burst damage);
- Always be aware of the enemy support (especially if it's a kill lane);
- Going back to base and healing is generally better than waiting for a creep wave to push to your turret;
- Always attack the closest target unless you can finish off a champion in one or two hits;
Additional Tips:
SSJSuntastic adds his own 2 cents:
- Always stand diagonally from the turret while harassing unless the enemy support is on that side, it will give you more range (will write an article on this later...ooo *inspiration*)
- Always carry lifesteal quints;
- Always stay in range for your support to assist. Every moment counts with Exhaust;
- Never go all-in without knowing which summoner skills are available on all four bot laners;

Draven? Give me a real challenge...

i'm confused by what you mean by: stand diagonally from the turret
ReplyDeleteExcellent, my article on that may be helpful then =]
ReplyDeleteHi, after the last update lifesteal quints got nerfed and attack speed got buffed. So many ad carry use attack speed quints. You might want to update this part. Rekkles wrote about it on his fb page few weeks ago https://www.facebook.com/Rekkles1/posts/445770222220930?stream_ref=1 :)
