Top Team Comps #83: Jump On It

Season 7's full of some really full champions, and this time around I wanted to showcase something with Rakan. This one does kind of turn into a Yasuo comp just because Yasuo tends to be one of those glory hogs, but the rest of these champions can also dish a good amount of damage in their own right.

Introduction

Season 7's full of some really full champions, and this time around I wanted to showcase something with Rakan. This one does kind of turn into a Yasuo comp just because Yasuo tends to be one of those glory hogs, but the rest of these champions can also dish a good amount of damage in their own right.

Champions

Tristana[Marksman] - Tristana is mostly here for the theme, but she also has the added benefit of being able to siege towers even if the enemy team is turtling. With Yasuo and Malphite on the team, Tristana allows her team to chip away at turrets even if their wave gets cleared too quickly.
---

Yasuo [Mid] - I'll try and steer you away from Yasuo for this composition since we all know that he works insanely well with Malphite and Galio. He'll likely be the main hypercarry this game, so make sure to get him ahead early and force mid-game team fights to maximize this team's potential. If things get hair he could also split-push, but that's not nearly as fun.

--

Rakan [Support] - Taking away the classic Braum support in this team composition, we've put Rakan instead. His ability to follow up behind Malphite and possible Yasuo means that Galio has plenty of time for his ultimate to land and deal a second (or third/fourth) knock-up and keep the enemy team on the trampoline of doom. His benefit over Braum is that he has a much faster execution on his CC, allowing for minimal counterplay when he has his ultimate up.

---

Galio [Jungler] - Most Galio players tend to bring him to the top lane nowadays, but he's still playable in the jungle. Make sure to farm hard. If required, Galio may end up saving his ultimate to protect Tristana on a case-by-case basis.

---

Malphite [Top Laner] - There's not much that needs to be said about Malphite, and he will be your primary engagement champion this game. He could also follow-up behind Yasuo's ult if Yasuo lands a knock-up, but generally it's easier to start with Malphite.

Key Concepts

  • It's fun to spend all your knock-ups at once, but if it's not necessary feel free to save one or two heavy cooldown spells.
  • This team's tower siege potential tends to be low against high clear teams since they only have one ranged champion, so make sure Tristana focuses on tossing Explosive Charges on the turret.

Countering

Beating this team could be done with a kite/disengage comp, but that's fairly boring so let's do something different and beat them at their own game. The team comp below focuses on punishing champions that try and stack up on a single location instead. >:]

Here is an example team that may succeed:
  • Anivia [Mid] - Drop your ult where the enemy team is jumping to and watch them freeze.
  • Rumble [Jungle] - Try some Rumble in da jungle. Pop your ult as Malphite is throwing his ult and see how they think twice.
  • Illaoi [Top] - Tentacles ruin everyone's day, but six or seven in the same spot might ruin their year.
  • Lulu [Support] - Fight fire with fire. If they're going to knock-up your champions it's only fair you knock theirs up too.
  • Miss Fortune [Marksman] - I'd hate to "rain" on their parade with a fully channeled Miss Fortune ult...just don't stand too close to where Galio's landing.
As a whole, this counter composition is a bit too damage heavy, but can snowball very hard through the mid game.
