Dr. Mundo Outta Nowhere

As low mobility champions go, Dr. Mundo really came out of nowhere recently to become the #1 God Tier jungle pick. His kit is simple yet efficient, making him deal high damage while simultaneously being unkillable. He went unnoticed for a good while simply because he's an older champion with a basic kit, but now that's it's been quite some time since he's been picked up, he's good again!

How to Play
Abilities: E, Q, W  then prioritize R > E > Q > W
Summoner Spells: Flash + Smite
Starting Items: Hunter's Machine + Refillable Potion
Core Items: Skirmisher's Sabre Enchantment: Cinderhulk, Mercury's Treads, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmog's Armor, Thornmail

Rune Setup

How It Works

Cinderhulk Stacking
One of the biggest perks of pulling Dr. Mundo into the jungle is the ability to utilize Cinderhulk's obnoxiously powerful tank scaling, granting 15% bonus health and simultaneously giving him the Sunfire Cape damage passive as well.

Incredible Waveclear Speed
What Dr. Mundo loses in terms of mobility he more than makes up by how fast he can melt jungle camps. He's also resourceless, making it very easy for him to continuously jungle as long as he keeps his health high enough. By picking up Fleet Footwork, Mundo is able to avoid getting as low as usual during the first clear and remain healthy.

Powerful Chasing Ability
When you combine the Approach Velocity rune with Fleet Footwork, Mundo's gank potential greatly increases beyond what most players are used to. Some players run Glacial Augment, but generally speaking, Fleet Footwork is better for keeping him strong in the early game.

Potential Pitfalls

Low Crowd-Control
While Mundo's core strength is diving the backline and continuously being a pain in the butt. However, if he doesn't get the initial slow off on his Q he has no reliable way of keeping enemies around. Meanwhile, he still has difficulty running down highly mobile champions, especially if he doesn't have his ultimate up.

Conclusions

Dr. Mundo really doesn't have many weaknesses other than his semi-outdated kit. It's not a particularly overpowered on paper, but the numbers that he puts out are simply insane, which is largely why he went unnoticed for so long. He basically performs the valuable task of being a powerful front line while simultaneously deals enough damage to be a serious threat, making him a very straight-forward but powerful jungler.

Overall, a slight number tweak would drop him out of God Tier, but as he stands now he's insanely powerful.

Suggested Tier: God Tier
