What it means

Riot saw your account signed in on another device or session, so it closed this one.

What to try first

Sign out of the Riot Client on every other PC, then sign in again on the one you want to play on.

Riot's table carries a warning. Riot has flagged its VALORANT code list as out of date, because a bug is making some VALORANT errors show up wrong. If the steps here don't match what you're seeing, Riot suggests a support ticket.

Is it you or Riot? If a lot of players got the same code at once, it's likely the servers. Check Riot's service status page for VALORANT before you start reinstalling things.

One account, one session

Riot's VALORANT code table labels 5 as the account having been logged into elsewhere, and the advice is to log out from all devices. A second session on the same account ended this one.

If you play on more than one computer, the other login is probably yours. Close VALORANT and the Riot Client on that machine and sign out, then sign back in where you want to play.

If it isn't you

If nobody you know has your login and VAL 5 keeps kicking you, treat it as an account security problem. Change your Riot password, then open a ticket so Riot can look at the account from its side.

VAN 185, a Vanguard code, also lists signing out on other PCs among its fixes, because a second session can clash there too.

Riot's fix, in Riot's order

  1. Sign out on every other device

    Someone, maybe you on another PC, is signed in to the same Riot account somewhere else. Close VALORANT and the Riot Client on every other computer you use, sign out there, then sign back in on the one you want to play on. If you don't recognize the other login, change your password.

  2. Send Riot a support ticket

    If the steps above don't clear it, open a ticket with Riot Player Support from the VALORANT support site and include the exact code you saw. Riot can see account-side problems that you can't.
