Stuck at reconnect after champion select: the game never loads

What's going on

You lock in, champion select ends, and instead of the loading screen the client shows Reconnect. Riot's article (updated May 26, 2026) opens by saying it's still looking into what causes this, so what follows is a list of known culprits more than one diagnosis.

It's a different thing from Attempting to Reconnect, which pops up during a game you're already in when your connection drops.

How to fix it

Clear the game's compatibility settings

Find League of Legends.exe. By default it's in C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Game. Right-click it, choose Properties and open the Compatibility tab. Riot says the usual offenders are compatibility mode and Run this program as an administrator, but its advice is to clear every box on the tab.

Turn off debug memory dumps

Riot says Windows' default debugging settings can cause this in some cases. Press Win+R, run sysdm.cpl, go to Advanced, then Settings under Startup and Recovery, and set Write debugging information to (none). Restart.

Check for Fasoo or Citrix

Riot singles out two pieces of software by name. Look in Task Manager's Processes list:

• Fasoo shows up as seef_logsvc.exe, f_LPS.exe, fClient.exe or fph.exe. Uninstall anything published by fasoo.com from Control Panel's Programs and Features.
• Citrix Workspace runs as concentr.exe, Receiver.exe, redirector.exe, SelfServicePlugin.exe, UpdaterService.exe, wfcrun32.exe or appprotection.exe. Uninstall what's published by Citrix or "ICA Client".

Restart after removing either one. If it's a work PC, check with whoever manages it first.

Add antivirus exclusions

Riot names COMODO and Emsisoft as security software that can cause this. In Windows Security, open Virus & threat protection, then Manage settings, and under Exclusions add these three folders:

• C:\Program Files\Riot Vanguard\
• C:\Riot Games\Riot Client\
• C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\

Last resort: a VPN

Riot's final suggestion, once everything above has failed, is playing through a VPN. That's an unusual thing for Riot to recommend, since most of its connection guides tell you to switch VPNs off.

If the game doesn't start loading at all

Riot has a second League article for games that don't reach the loading screen after champion select. It overlaps with this one and adds a clean boot, a graphics driver update, the Repair button in the Riot Client's settings, and clearing the game's folders from AppData\Local before a full reinstall.
