Guide to Playing Support Ashe

Support Ashe is one of those picks that's always been theoretically viable, but tends to get out-scaled late game against other more viable supports. However, with the advent of Season 11's prepatch, that's all changed. She's not only viable now with this new build, but also quite good.

Check out the details on runes and builds below!

How to Play
Abilities: W, Q, E then prioritize R > W > E > Q

Summoner Spells: Flash + Exhaust

Starting Items: Spectral Sickle + Health Potions

Strategy: Poke with W, but avoid hard shoving the wave unless that's the plan to begin with. Proc Imperial mandate on as many people as possible and auto-attack when safe to do so.

Core Items: Black Mist Scythe (Upgrades from Spectral Sickle), Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Imperial Mandate, Manamune (Build Tear early), Chempunk Chainsword, Umbral Glaive

Rune Setup

Primary: Arcane Comet, Manaflow Band, Trascendence, Scorch
Secondary: Ultimate Hunter, Cheap Shot

How It Works

Huge Poke Damage
Imperial Mandate combined with her runes provides Ashe with massive poke damage, especially late game when she has enough cooldown and mana to spam her volley. Not only does it proc on every target she hits with Volley as a result of the AOE slow, but this AD heavy build gives it a good punch on its own.

Full Team Chase Potential
Ashe was always very good at running down enemies with just her frost passives. However, Imperial Mandate also speeds both her and her ally by 20%, making it impossible for enemies to escape once they're marked for death.

Ultimate Engagement Potential
Ever since her inception people have loved Ashe's ultimate and the amount of ranged engagement power it brings. This build provides a large amount of cooldown reduction, giving her more arrows than ever before.

Potential Pitfalls

No Sustain
Ashe provides no sustain or damage mitigation once enemies reach your marksman. While she does provide good kiting potential, if your ally or yourself do get jumped on there's no hard disengage abilities other than slows and your ultimate.

Feast or Famine
As a support, Ashe either runs down the enemy laners over and over or gets run down over and over. There are certainly cases where both sides are playing passive lanes, but depending on jungle pressure the lane can snowball quickly in either direction.

Countering Support Ashe

Countering Support Ashe generally involves picking up a tanky hard-engage/counter-engage support like Nautilus

Conclusions

Support Ashe is the strongest it's been in several seasons right now and very strong. Overall I'd say she's in a well balanced state right now and viable enough for solo queue, but not particularly overpowered.

Suggested Tier: High Tier 2
