Introduction

Hey everyone! This week's Weird Pick Wednesday centers around a marksman whose name consistently tops the charts ever since her latest rework. However, it may come as a surprise to some of you to find out she has quite a few AP ratios as well! Check out the full details below:

How to Play
Runes: Ability Power Quints, Magic Penetration Reds, Flat Armor Yellows, Flat Cooldown Reduction Blues
Masteries: 12-18-0, AP Thunderlord Support Masteries
Abilities: E, Q, E, W then prioritize  R > E > Q > W
Core Items (Pure Poke): Frost Queen's Claim, Sightstone (Optional), Luden's Echo, Liandry's Torment, Rabadon's Deathcap, Void Staff, Zhonya's Hourglass
Hybrid Items (Auto Based): Lichbane, Nashor's Tooth

Why It Works

High AP Ratios
At a mere 10% AP ratio per shot and 8 shots total, Miss Fortune has a startling high 80% AP Ratio total on her Make It Rain (E) skill. Meanwhile, her Bullet Time (R) has a range of 240% to 320% of her AP depending on the level  if enemies stay in it for the full duration as well. Lastly, her Doubleup can do a potential 85% of your AP ratio once you get Lichbane.

Good Trading Potential
Although enemies don't always stay in Make It Rain (E) it for the full duration, if you and your laning partner can hit them while they are moving out of it, you effectively force them to choose between getting hit and fighting back. This often results in excellent trades, especially against a melee support.

Great Synergy With Liandry's and Oppressor
In a metagame chock full of tanks, Late game Miss Fortune synergizes excellently with Liandry's Torment. Since her Make It Rain naturally slows, she does not require any additional CCs to proc the extra damage and burns for a long duration. This being said, Miss Fortune also works very well with the Oppressor mastery, which is always on for the full duration of her damage.

Easy Thunderlord's Decree Procs
As her Make It Rain slows and deals 8 waves of damage, Miss Fortune gets free Thunderlord procs every time it's available for her use. This allows her to safely poke and maximize her damage during laning phase and for teamfights.

Potential Pitfalls

No Hard CC
Although Miss Fortune's slow on her Make It Rain does provide a decent bit of CC, she does not have any "hard" CC, meaning that she cannot stop any channeling spells or prevent an enemy champion from flashing.

Low Utility
Many supports in the current metagame provide some sort of interesting utility spells. However, as a pure AP support mage somewhat reliant on the fact that Frost Queen's Claim happens to be extremely strong right now, Miss Fortune may lose some of her viability upon its nerf.

Conclusions

As a naturally very oppressive laner, Miss Fortune adds a lot of value as a support. While her AD build requires her to be more auto attack based, her AP build allows her to be an effective poker, kiter, and zoner. This lends itself to being a very strong support if she can snowball her lane. However, she's very weak should she fall behind against all-in type supports like Blitzcrank or Leona.

Suggested Rating: Low Tier 2
