As a support main, I'm all about that utility. Some champions naturally have more than others, but there are definitely a few standout spells in the game that really define unique play and can really impact the game in unforeseen ways. Check out the top 10 list below!

Introduction

As a support main, I'm all about that utility. Some champions naturally have more than others, but there are definitely a few standout spells in the game that really define unique play and can really impact the game in unforeseen ways.

Check out the top 10 list below!

1. Bard - Tempered Fate (R)

One of the newer champions on the rift, Bard's definitely been known to significantly mess up his own teammates before. However, his ability to put allies, enemies, and even epic monsters into statis gives him the rare ability to perform some pretty nifty tricks such as dodging Karthus ult or resetting Baron.

2. Teemo - Noxious Trap (R)

Recently changed, Teemo's ultimate has been subjectively "nerfed". However, it still provides some rare utility that few other champions have. A global nuke that can be placed in every bush, Teemo's mushrooms provide sight, utility, and a decent chunk of damage. With enough CDR, a good Teemo can make it impossible for enemy teams to contest objectives.

3. Thresh - Dark Passage (W)

A favorite highlight reel spell for many people, Thresh's lantern provides a minor shield along with the all powerful Thresh lantern express train out of trouble or into it. As a champion who provides otherwise immobile allied champions amazing mobility, this spell definitely earns a spot in the Top 10.

4. Anivia - Crystallize (W)

Ever since Froggen put the bird away, Anivia isn't in the spotlight nearly as much lately. However, many of you probably still remember the perfect walls he set down that completely blocked off enemy champions from each other. The most peculiar part of the spells however, is probably the fact that sometimes it looks like you can go around it, but end up just walking back and forth and dying.

5. Tahm Kench - Devour (W)

An insanely versatile spell, Tahm Kench is definitely Riot's weirdest creation yet. His regular choice between swallowing friend or foe is further complicated by the fact that he can even grab enemies from a range using his empowered Tongue Lash (Q).

6. Nidalee - Pounce (W)

One of my favorite spells in the game, Nidalee's pounce keeps her the most mobile champion in the game, even ahead of the likes of Lee Sin or Kassadin. Completely manaless and only cooldown reliant, the number of walls she can jump over is absolutely insane. Chasing a good Nidalee becomes incredibly futile, even with boots of mobility on.

7. Janna - Howling Gale (Q)

While Nidalee's pounce is one of my favorite spells in the game, Janna's Q IS my favorite spell in the game. From blocking Shyvana's ultimate, Zac's jump, and Akali's dash all the way to knocking out Thresh lanterns and Jarvan E -> Qs, the amount of versatility in Janna's tornado is absurd. Check out this link for a full listing!

8. Blitzcrank - Rocket Grab (Q)

For those of you wondering where Thresh hook was on the list, this one should come as no surprise. Blitzcrank's hook is one of the most game-changing spells around. Even a level 1 Blitzcrank entering the game 40 minutes in can completely change the flow of the game instantly with a single well placed hook.

9. Gragas - Explosive Cask (R)

With enough sheer geometrical prowess, Gragas's ultimate can quickly substitute for a well placed Blitzcrank hook and also double as a way to knock back everyone else you don't want to fight far away. However, with a higher cooldown and way more math involved, Gragas isn't nearly as easy to pull off.

10. Jarvan - Cataclysm (R)

The partner to Anivia's wall the same way Gragas is a partner to Blitzcrank's Rocket grab, Jarvan provides a more well rounded shield wall that also deals a ton of damage as well. With this spell, Jarvan can quickly trap in enemies or isolate them for a quick 2v1 before enemy champions can jump in to help kill priority targets.

Honorable Mentions:
Riven - Broken Wings (Q)
Syndra - Scatter the Weak (E)
Azir - Emperor's Divide (R)
