In the newest rendition of the Tier List, Patch 5.5 brings in strong diversity back to the jungle in the form of Bami's Cinder, an item that now allows tanky junglers to clear extremely quickly while scaling up in damage throughout the game.

Hi everyone and welcome to a the newest edition of the Solo Queue Tier List "Division Climbers". Some of you may have been confused why Sejuani and Amumu were so low on the FOTM tier list, released earlier today. Well let's just say it hasn't caught on quite yet, but I expect it to quickly come around to a must-ban status.This patch's jungle changes means a ton of moves on the jungler positions on the tier list. While early in the patch, I'll likely shift things around as the community sets into a groove with the new changes. Check out the full listing below!

Instructions and Caveats:
- Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
- Champions UNDERLINED may be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgement.
- Within each tier the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
- This tier list takes data from ALL players; however, since the majority of players fall in the first three tiers, the majority of data points will come from there.
- Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength, but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
- The creator of this list is diamond, so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.
Champion Explanations
- Azir [Tier 4 Mid] - Azir's definitely stronger this time around, but the buffs Riot provided him are less than exemplary. He's still a very underwhelming presence right now on the rift, which is only amplified by his high skill cap.
- Bard [Tier 2 Support] - A champion with plenty of utility and fun spells, I think for solo queue he suffers from some coordination difficulties and relies heavily on excellent judgement from both Bard and his teammates. However, I think he'll make his way into top of the professional and solo queue scene for sure.
- Blitzcrank [God Tier Support] - Blitzcrank is definitely very strong right now, but for most tiers I'd say Leona is a better bet. His play-making ability is through the roof, but does require strong burst damage from your enemy team in order to be effective.
- Hecarim [God Tier Top] - A newcomer to the God Tier Top laners, Hecarim is absolutely insane right now. His sustained damage, initiation power, and burst damage are all shockingly high. It's very difficult to escape from one simply because of his raw speed, and once he starts snowballing it's impossible to avoid him.
- Kassadin [Tier 4 Mid] - Despite slight buffs to him, Kassadin is still hypernerfed. Definitely needs a rework at this point. Slightly stronger this patch for sure though.
- Lissandra [Tier 2 Top] - After nerfs on Lissandra, she's much more in-line with other champions. Expect Vladimir and Kennen to take over her place top lane when it comes to mage bullies.
- Nautilus [Tier 1 Jungle] - The combination of Nautilus' personal buffs along with the introduction of the new jungle item have breathed new life into Nautilus. His jungle clear and damage is very comparable to other junglers now, and his CC is still through the roof. I suspect in another patch or two he'll start gaining heavy popularity so use him while you still can.
- Nidalee [Tier 2 Jungle] - Nidalee nerfs coupled with buffs on other junglers have made her fairly balanced. In the right hands she still snowballs very hard, but she isn't nearly as faceroll as before.
- Nunu [Tier 1 Jungle] - Buffs via the new jungle item have helped him as well. Additionally, against the slightly slower clear times of tank junglers, Nunu does very well during invades early on. He's definitely a force to be reckoned with now.
- Sejuani [God Tier Jungle] - The new item is absolutely insane on Sejuani and Amumu, and synergizes so well that their win rates are shooting through the roof. This is what happens when you nerf the other junglers and introduce a new item that perfectly synergizes with her kit. We're definitely going to be seeing a lot more of her in the upcoming weeks.
- Vi [Tier 1 Jungle] - The nerf on Vi was fairly strong in terms of her level 6 ganking potential. However, it's really the new jungler items that have weakened her significantly. However, I think she's still very strong at the moment.
- Volibear [God Tier Jungle] - I may or may not get a lot of flack for this one, but the new jungle item also synergizes EXTREMELY well with Volibear, and I think he's exceedingly powerful right now. This coupled with nerfs on Morellon a few patches back have slowly but surely brought him back into a powerhouse status. Again, I could be jumping the gun on this one, but I really think he's very good at the moment. We'll check back in a few days once more data comes in.

ReplyDeleteDo you really see Zac still tier 3 in jungle? I mean, besides of the new jungle item, the CC of his E has been doubled in duration, which seems like a pretty huge buff to me.

ReplyDeleteI'd personally shuffle the Teir 1 and Teir 2 support picks slightly. Ignoring Bard's win rate for the moment, I think he deserves lower Teir 1 - his playmaking potential is great, but his damage is absurdly low. Blitzcrank honestly does higher damage in laning phase.
I think Thresh should replace where Taric is. In terms of damage, poke, all in, CC, and overall utility, Thresh is higher - Taric only outshines Thresh in terms of a point-and-click CC and ease of play, as well as mediocre sustain. I think that warrants Taric as Balanced and Thresh as strong.
While Zyra and Vel'Koz provide decent damage, CC, and poke, their lack of sustain, beefiness, and unique utility spells (like a Bard E or Thresh W) I think should put them at balanced. Just my two cents, as I feel much more strongly about where Thresh should go.
The new jungle item is so good on Amumu. It's as if they buffed the fuck out of his W. The return of the %25 bonus health is also great for Volibear and Zac and other health stackers. I could see Mundo jungle becoming more popular than his top lane role, although his mediocre ganks would keep him out of tier 1.

ReplyDeleteTotally agree on Volibear jungle, but I also think Kassadin is not deserving of tier 4. His ult has 1.2 second CD (max CDR) which is nothing to laugh at. It's not like his damage is underwhelming or anything, and it's near impossible to catch him late game. Sure, it's only 500 range but people are way over-exaggerating his nerf.

ReplyDeleteAlso interested in this. I play him a lot and I seem to be able to reproduce consistent results with him, but his itemization is still a bit awkward for me (hard to decide between IBG and Trinity, even when snowballing). Had a Kha'Zix on my team tell me he was OP, though.
ReplyDeleteOne of my main junglers, he's very snowba.ly and and can do tons of damage and be super tanky and slippery. Usually build something like chilling smite cinderhulk, boots (usually mercs) then sheen, tank item, finish triforce, full tank. Also, if you're ahead, Abyssal Scepter is a good item on him, believe it or not, and it pairs well with the two sunfires you'll probably have,

ReplyDeleteI think that he was stronger with the elder lizard passive true damage burn. And he wasn't god-tier then, but he was strong and a good duelist. Now, without it, he is less effective. Itemization for a lot of tanks is pretty awkward right now. In the jungle you can't get CDR very well w/o sacrificing use of the cinderhulk passive.
ReplyDeleteIn the right situation, definitely! I just wouldn't buy it against at Lee, shaco or vi. Against Nautilus, Sejuani or J4 it can work really well.
ReplyDeleteI really like playing janna and im a support main. However people have told me it is extremely hard to win games as janna or any other traditional support because of bad adcs and low damage in bronze-silver. If i want to climb as a support is it really necessary to switch to a mage support like Zyra?
ReplyDeleteYou can (sorta) get back the Elder Lizard passive true damage if you were to build Skirmisher's Sabre. I imagine it would be good if you didn't need to peel in teamfights.

ReplyDeleteIts not necessarily a mage support. More of a play making support. Blitz, leona, thresh and the like all can create opprotunities very easily. Janna is more about removing mistakes that your team makes.

She's my go to champion when i have to support and so far im being successful with her, like the guy above me said she can remove the mistakes your team makes which in solo queue is very valuable. She might not make plays but she can negate plays which makes her a good pick.

ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd put reksai back in tier 1 and consider rengar up there as well, because cinder is really strong on them like it is with many other junglers. I'd also suggest dr mundo a high tier 2 pick in the jungle.

ReplyDeleteEarly Game- he has considerable damage for a Top lane Bruiser while still being tanky and a lot of cc which makes it easy to set up a gank. He can out-damage a lot of melee champs that goes into Top Lane if he lands his skills correctly and has a 2nd chance with his passive (Not that he really needs it)

ReplyDeleteI made a post on lol forums, but in french, explaining all his weakness and why i think he needs buffs. A little sum-up : Bards is squishy. His ult is too long to cast. His Q spell is too short to place it on enemies in lane. And finally, chimes don't give too much xp, so that Bard have two or three levels less than the midlaner all along the game.

ReplyDeletecan you explain nunu being tier 1 to me, he has no mobility, shitty damage, terrible ganks, can't carry, and if you're team is even slightly behind it becomes 4v5 because he can't make a comeback. His clear is slower than most junglers because you just sit there awkwardly auto attacking camps, and he is also a tank with no hard cc or mobility for engagements.

Yes and in my opinion the reason why people dont get the most out of corki is that they don't abuse his ridiculous powerspikes he has. He has 2 that you really should use to it's fullest potential.
ReplyDeleteWhen you have your sheen your aas do so much more damage and it's like having a bf sword combined with the extra damage on Qs and rockets. To use this to the fullest potential is to poke in lane, combine with AAs, Gatling gun etc. This item has gotten me so many kills in lane when I poke abit first.
The second Powerspike is the triceforce with sorc shoes.
This powerspike is borderline disgusting since you have the burst to take a squishy target to half health with one Q / aa. His powerspike here is ridiculous and if you group with your team you will outdamage any adc in a teamfight unless he's gotten stupidly fed.
It's because the new cinderhulk item made them stupidly strong and they acually do significant damage without having to sacrifice defensive stats.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the ranged toplaner. Something like Lissandra, who can stop him yeah, or Vladimir who outsustains him at +7 lvl (at lvl 3 Heca wins if he does an all in). But Heca's kit allows him to all in almost everyone and once at melee range he wrecks.

ReplyDeleteNunu is an absolute monster when played correctly. he's got unlimited and unrivaled sustain in the jungle. doesn't need a leash, incredibly fast clear times. he was never intended as a ganking jungler thus your logic is incorrect his main use is to get the enemy jungler behind and turn it into a 4v5. he's got incredible objective control in the new season since he can easily do drag at lvl 3 (and fast too) leading to an early lane advantage globally (and if the enemy jungler isn't good at drag timers a massive disadvantage as they will almost never know when the drag is up). during team fights he gives a great buff to the ADC via his W (bloodboil) and also while his E does considerable damage without any AP and it also applies a decent slow but more importantly a massive AS DEBUFF on the enemy ADC given the mandatory frozen hearth you build on him and the passive aura it gives, you basically make the enemy ADC useless since he'll be out-traded every time.

ReplyDeleteHey SSJ can you rethink about Kassadin tier 4. He isn't really that bad if you can get into late game with him. Hard to shut him down after 6 too because his mobility is stupid. Pre 6 just farm under turret and pick people off late game. If you really think he's complete garbage can I get some sort of explanation?

ReplyDeleteBest thing about not building sunfire anymore, is that u can rush randuins, save an slot, and give your tanks/off tanks junglers a very powerful tankiness early on. Cinderhulk is just too good to be true. Shyv for example, is a monster on the jungle right now.

ReplyDeleteall the ranged top laners are a bit too weak for really bully hecarim,vladimir is one of the most annoying things in the world but he's played not that much,kennen cannot outrun you and he definitely not bully you if you play decently while lissandra just all in her and she die,also her q nerf helps you a lot.

nunu' strenght doesn't come from ganking everyday but rather stealing all the enemy jungler's camp and made it out alive since no one can outrun him at early levels cause e+w is very strong for escape.

nunu's clear are fast with cinderhulk and i don't know why you say they are slow,maybe you max e idk.
late game nunu ISN'T AN INITIATOR,really in season 5 people still thinks nunu can use a flash+ulti for engage?
nunu's ult should be used for peel for the carry or counter-engage,look at that plesky jax jumping on your carry and get slowed as hell,also with frozen hearth and e spam you kill carry's atk spd while making your carry a god with bloodboil

ReplyDeleteI kinda disagree with the Kassadin placement, or at least the "in need of rework" status. All you really need to do is farm early and you do fine later. Now he's a lot harder to lock down too, great for little jungle skirmishes mid game (although with admittedly not all the much damage unless snowballed).

Shouldn't Viktor at least be in T1 now, since he's most certainly stronger than lux and ziggs at the moment and has great synergy with Luden's Echo?

ReplyDeleteYes... BARD is FUCKING hard to use and weirdo... In my own opinion he is tier 2-tier 1... not my own favourite. Ultimate is hard to use usefully. it should be this; enemy gets put into the stunned stance BUT they CAN TAKE DAMAGE!!!? Would be OP? but it's no use if they just get put into un-targetable state.... useless :p just gives them cooldown timers burns seconds and allows you to re-position.

In my first game I was so embarrassed, I ult during siege/tower push, and the enemy comes when my ult ended.... x_____x ugh......

ReplyDeleteGraves should be first in God-Tier... Sivir Second and Jinx last. Why, cause Graves is a full armored ADC right now... You can use Health Seals on him and he should be a nightmare, even if yoyure bad at him, Sivir snowballs pretty hard and counters Graves pretty bad, kiting-spellshield and even a flash reposition can destroy him and jinx. and I think Jinx is pretty off--- Definitely not Graves or Sivir tier right now... I just hope they three don't get nerfed... They're my favorite ADC's. altough I don't main ADC at all

ReplyDeleteHonestly, I've been testing Ap Zac Mid and it really does work. You max E as it allows for super powerful roaming and great engages in teamfights or your laner. Any squishy mid laner that isn't fizz can be instagibbed by E-Q-R-W. It works way better than i expected.

I have been playing voli jungle and it is ridiculous. At full tank you can 1v1 anyone in the midgame.

ReplyDeleteConsidering this is bronze-gold tier list rek sai top has no business in not being god tier, simply put nothing in melee has such a dominant laning phase atm, with all the tools to win lane via ranged poke,instant hard cc, gap closers and multiple when you put them in bushes, fantastic bush control, counters stealth junglers and provides vision on them regardless in bushes, great sustain, built in waveclear (3 abilitys to do so even) as well as global pressure seeing as tport and her ult allow her to be anywhere on the map for a large portion of the game.
ReplyDeleteIt only helps too that she can splitpush fantastically as well performing kinda as a jax in that regard, by going hydra into tri force then tank not only are you unkillable with all the mobility and sustain but 1v1ing is extremely hard due to the high late game passive sustain and the aoe lifesteal on hydra (all increased even more by spirit visage).
She really has no bad lane matchups that are melee atm only even ones are those that can have great early sustain and trade evenly with her, which so far seems to be hecarim (forcing him to go oom after a few trades) and renekton, though you will outscale renek in the later portions of the game.
As for ranged having a long distance gap closer and hard instant cc along with burst pairs really well in comboing down the squishy ranged top champs for easy kills.
All in all people for some reason in seeing her best in jungle when she preforms best in top seeing as after the first round of nerfs she fell off in top but not in jungle. Try her out for the freelo that folows.

hey guys me and my friend (duo partner) got in a stubborn arguement and i need someone outside of our messagebox to fill us in:
ReplyDeleteso my friend went from silver 2 to gold 5 in 2 days after patch 5.5 and i told him its because of the buffs he got to his favorite junglers. Hes the type of guy that always claims to play out of the meta.. i told him "naut voli skarner are all in meta and thats why ur climbing" i proceeded to tell him that winrates play a huge part in how effective a champion is in solo Q.
His arguement is that those buffs didnt help him climb. when they clearly did according to how his record was before and after patch 5.5. he believes that winrate just means if u are retarded u have a better chance of winning games as sion, sej ,blitz etc. but i told him that u still have to know how the game works and u cant just win if u dont know what u are doing.
anivia is a good example of a champion with a very high winrate and she is one of the most complex to master in the game. i dont really think some retard can go and play her and have a better chance of winning. every champion needs practice even katarina and sej.
The main problem i have is that clearly the reason he is climbing is because the buffs made naut stronger and he doesnt want to believe this. all of his mains got buffed so this is clearly making an impact on his games.
so i decided to test him by asking him to play evelynn(whom has a very crappy winrate) for 10 games and see how it goes.
he responded by saying he only likes hard engage junglers..... this is where i think i got him by the *ss
because eve IS a hard engage jungler. she sneaks up and hard engages with her ult however i told him that he would not be able to climb with her because eves kit is not good for this meta.
*on a side note he thinks that the veigar rework was actually good... and thinks tristana is broken right now. also in every game he plays he claims to be a platinum smurf because he says thats how he gets what he wants. he looks up every single game he plays on lolnexus... why do people do that? who gives a flying f*ck about the enemies record. dont look up the enemy because that might intimidate u or make u overconfident

You wrote you moved Bard down to tier 3 but he is listed as tier 2. Which one is intended?
ReplyDeleteSSJ, why isn't urgot discussed on the list after his buffs? I feel that the buffs he received are actually pretty huge; the 8% max mana scaling on his W does him a ton of good. He gets about a 60 more health from his shield at level 4 when normally skilled, and with the 1400 mana from tear and frozen heart plus his base mana of about 850 at level 14 when he'd have those items, gives him 180 extra shield health while only losing 20 in return in the base numbers. Additionally the ult CD was shortened, which is fairly insignificant but a buff non the less. Anyways I do believe the shield buff allows urgot to always max his E second giving him higher damage while also being innately tanker, which in turn allows him to ult in teamfights and live even longer. Maybe he's still a tier 4 adc (except I think in bruisers all in comps he is a very strong choice), but I think he should be much higher in top and mid lanes, low tier 2 and low tier 3 respectively.

ReplyDeleteI think that Syndra should be moved up to tier 2. She has been tier 3 since Riot nerf her, the main problem in her nerf was her stun. Currently with 10 games of practice you can hit stun easilier and do not forget that the hitbox of her stun was buffed. She still has a lot of utility and damage. Furthermore, the current popular picks benefits her matchups, in fact, all popular picks are countered by Syndra (Leblanc, Katarina, Lissandra, Viktor, Nidalee, Cassiopeia, and others) and her main counters was nerfed (Ahri and Fizz as assassin, Akali and Yasuo).
This topic has touched quite a while. It is about Zyra mid, I think that she should be mid of tier 2. I know that she can root the entire enemy team and provides a lot of damage and utility. But she is probably the most squishy midlaner, whether while it is true that she has a decent range she can practicaly never use her E defensively because her E has a lot of cast time. Almost always you use her E to catch enemies or save your alies. Also she has not mobility, she has 325 of movement speed (the lowest in game) any mage has that movement speed except Lissandra and Anivia, they has a lot of survival in their skills. Other mages has much more MS than Zyra, for example, Leblanc has 335 of MS and she has two dashes... On another subject, she is very skilled and I think that she should be tier 2. She is good, a lot of damage and utility but she has her weaknesses very marked.

yeah I'm a big fan of his kit as well, but he's where he belongs (tier 2) because requires quite some ability to realy master.

I've seen a friend of mine climbing to gold 1 from silver 2 in days.... he was always silver for years and now it seems he just is 2 good for gold... Sometimes people just realize new ways to play league of legends....there are so many factors playing here you can't just focus on champions being either nerfed or buffed.
