Athene Addresses the LoL Community About RAGE

If you're not familiar with Athene, you will soon! Self-proclaimed "Best Gamer in the World" he's a professional gamer who's got a personality of his own. Despite coming off as the cockiest pro gamer in the world, he's also one of the most charitable. In fact, he managed to raise $1 million dollars for Africa!

In this video he put out earlier today, he asks us:

"What's wrong with the LoL community?"

I think the most important point he addresses is of course the time-old adage: "Gaming is for fun."  I can definitely remember multitudes of times when I've walked away from playing LoL more stressed out than before I played. Then again, I can say the same thing about Farmville. (When those tractors run out of fuel, the chaos starts...)

Although gaming should be played for fun, I feel like his point on raging is incorrect. People say in order to be happy, you must also know what sorrow is. Even though there are times when we play League that we walk away furious, this amplifies the happiness we feel when we win! At least that's what I believe.

Health-wise, sure, being angry isn't a good thing, especially if you're already prone to being angry all the time. On the other hand, for people that keep it bottled in, having an outlet to rage out of like a video game isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it's healthy to let out some stress once in a while.

What do you guys think? Do you rage in game? Do you think it's unhealthy for the League Community? Comment below!

  1. I think it's a game and people that take the game too seriously over KS, losing, or whatever need to get over themselves. It's a game and it's supposed to be FUN.

  2. Athens, I've never heard truer words spoken. Everyday that goes by I am one step closer to quitting league. Just like you said. Hopefully you addressing this problem can help out. Thanks for bringing it to the light!

  4. I agree with he says, I have only been angered so much by other players that I raged during a few games. But more recent experience made it worse. I can handle it but a friend of mine I tried to get to play as well quit after four games because every game we had multiple people doing nothing but cursing at him. Yes he was awefull, but it was also only lvl 5 normal games. But you get this in any game and any community. So we gotta accept that and just live with it. Take your time to participate in the Tribunal every now and than to help clean up the community.
