Combo Review #13: Jarvan IV + Anivia + Jhin

Last week, LVL 99 Raid Boss posted in the comment section about the Jarvan + Jhin combo, which I really liked, but thought could use an extra little twist, so we've added Anivia to the mix.

The classic Jarvan IV + Anivia combination used to be the butt of many jokes, but together on the same team it's still quite strong! Check out the details below:

Introduction

Last week, LVL 99 Raid Boss posted in the comment section about the Jarvan + Jhin combo, which I really liked, but thought could use an extra little twist, so we've added Anivia to the mix.

The classic Jarvan IV + Anivia combination used to be the butt of many jokes, but together on the same team it's still quite strong! Check out the details below:

Main Goals

Chain CC
Jarvan + Jhin provide a very easy to hit CC combo that can quickly snowball into enemy champions permanently rooted in place. Combined with an Anivia iceball somewhere in-between, and there are very few champions that can survive the duration.

Hold 'Em and Hit 'Em
The obvious strategy revolves around Jarvan's ultimate, which allows Anivia to bring her ultimate to its full power for an extended duration, and also makes it obnoxiously easy for Jhin to "snipe" enemy champions via his own ultimate.

Massive Waveclear
These three champions have some of the highest waveclear abilities in the game for their respective roles. They also have two of the best zoning tools in the game via Anivia's wall and Jarvan's ultimate. This means that if it becomes necessary, this combo can turtle very hard and farm into the late game.

Alternative Champions

Veigar

Despite having much lower sustained damage compared to Anivia, Veigar's burst damage is miles higher. His Dark Matter (W) and Event Horizon (E) are also extremely easy to land when the enemy is trapped in the middle of Jarvan's ultimate.

    Lux

Similar to Veigar, Lux's abilities go from relatively undodgeable to really unavoidable with the limited space Jarvan's ultimate gives enemies to run in.

    Conclusions

Jarvan's ultimate is a time honored ability that synergizes extremely well with Riot's reworks to more AOE skillshot based champions. With the latest buffs to Black Cleaver in Patch 6.9, he's looking stronger than ever. Maybe it's time to start picking him back up top lane or jungle again!

    Just don't do this:
