Top 10 Lowest Winrate Champions

Good evening summoners, and welcome to another Top 10 episode. Tonight we'll be exploring the Top 10 lowest win rate in all of League of Legends, relegated to the pits of failure, many of which used to soar high and mighty.

Introduction

Good evening summoners, and welcome to another Top 10 episode. Tonight we'll be exploring the Top 10 lowest win rate in all of League of Legends, relegated to the pits of failure, many of which used to soar high and mighty.

Some of these champions are still strong favorites of players all over the world, but yet...something's going horribly wrong.

Note: All these champions are in fact, still viable, as even a 43% win rate signifies people ARE winning with them, and quite often too.

Note On Statistics

The stats above are from Lolking.net, and encompass the following:
  • Normal games;
  • All ranking tiers;
  • Multiple servers. and
  • All possible roles on that champion.
There are many reasons for low win rates, including:
  • Champion difficulty;
  • Low stat numbers on damage, speed, and/or durability;
  • Everyone is just bad at the champion.

#1 Kassadin

Kassadin is a champion whose ultimate kept him at the very peak of performance for a very long time. The amount of map control he had at his disposal allowed him to easily come from behind to instantly snowballing a game in his favor.

Even after his ratios were nerfed and his silence removed, Kassadin still found great success using Iceborn Gauntlet. However, as nerfs piled on, he eventually died a slow death.

#2 Elise

Another star child of a time long since passed, her low cooldown utility and early game dominance kept her at the top of the scene for a very long time as well. However, repeated constitution nerfs and reduction on the reliability of her CC left her broken. Even after holding the bottom 3 win rates for nearly a year now, there are still those who speak her name in reverent tones. Spider Queen.

#3. Leblanc

The most recent casualty of the group, Leblanc's rise and fall typically centered around popular items at the time, such as Deathfire Grasp and Luden's Echo. However, this time her fall came around from direct nerfs to her kit, resulting in a much more unforgiving necessity for perfect combos.

#4. Syndra

A comparably short lived popular champion in light of the three above, Syndra's popularity rose heavily with European players. With her supremely satisfying ability to one shot single targets combined with her low cooldown AOE stun, she was the epitome of high difficulty high reward. However, with nerfs to that AOE stun and her Q damage, she's since fallen out of favor.

#5. Azir

At last, a champion who is still highly exalted on the fields of justice today! Azir, the Emperor of Shurima, is similar to Syndra in that he's a low cooldown, high skill, high reward champion. As a champion who scales extremely hard into the late game but has trouble prior to that, many players have trouble managing his cooldowns before he finishes his full build, thus leading to early defeats.

#6. Olaf

Olaf is always an interesting case, since he's always been a top favorite pick for Korea. Peculiarly, he's actually somewhat middle of the pack in Korea, but still towards the lower end in terms of win rates. Against low mobility champions and champions that rely on heavy CC to survive he works very well. However, against high mobility high damage champions that seem to be the norm nowadays, he does suffer.

#7. Lee Sin

LEE SIN, Planet Earth's favorite champion. With his insanely flashy plays and strong potential mobility, the highlight reels make everyone want to play him. However, even platinum players with over 100 games played on Lee in ranked still only manage to squeak out a paltry 49% win rate. Well it's better than 46% I suppose!

#8. Twitch

Twitch is one of those extremely high potential champions that can perform insanely well on clustered champion groups, just not as well as Jinx since she gains mobility on kills and assists. However, with no true escapes and relatively abusable early game, he's fallen behind on the power scale.

#9. Dr. Mundo

This one actually comes as somewhat of a surprise, as you would think a champion dealing percentage based damage would do relatively well against all the tanks on the field. However, all his stats are fairly weak all around and seems like while Mundo goes where he pleases, the enemy team largely ignores his call for attention.

#10. Lucian

Last up is Lucian, a champion many still consider to be completely viable, if not still strong. With his amazing mobility and strong poke damage, he's a tried and true contender in the hands of many AD carry mains. However, he's indisputably weaker since his peak, and shows signs that a buff or nerf reversion may be necessary.

Did any of the champions above surprise you? Comment below!

  1. Mundo being this low makes me sad. I think the nerf on Warmog's a while back hurt him hard since his kit kinda forces him to build spirit visage and health items in order to become a super-tank, but even with the AD steroid on his E, he does pretty pitiful damage in team fights. I think they need to buff his W because at times it feels like you're better off not using it and saving the health. At max rank it's damage is basically 2 sunfirecapes and is less than the damage of Renekton's ult aura :/ Either that or perhaps add an attack speed buff to his ult so he can utilize that massive AD steroid he gets.

Or if he had a hard CC like Maokai he would be helpful in a peeling role instead of just running around tanking tons of damage while the enemy mostly ignores him.

  2. Spider QueenJune 19, 2015

This doesnt mean that these champions are crap , does it?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Olaf can still be effective if he gets fed he becomes an unstoppable duelist and split pusher. Also with the missing health effects of his passive and W, he can decimate teams that lack a reliable way to burst down the last quarter of his health bar. I think increasing the duration of the speed buff on his ult would help.

Also if his Q was reworked to feel smoother that would be nice as it's currently feels really clumsy to use and its not very useful outside of harassing in-lane. Brolaf is OP skin tho

Not at all. Lee is one of the best champions in the game, yet he's here. It's just that people are bad with these characters. Even terrible champions like idk... yorick, teemo, brand etc arent here. (Sorry to teemo, brand and yorick mains lol)

  5. Spider QueenJune 19, 2015

Like, IDK, what about Kassadin? I see Bjerg carrying ( i know hes pro ) And what about Elise, she isnt crap!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Kassadin pretty much is. Elise can still do decently in the jungle with a slightly tanky build, but her team-fight ability isn't that good. Syndra is also kinda terrible since her stun is less reliable and her Q poke damage is shit. The rest can still be played well.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Spider QueenJune 19, 2015

But same as Kha zix, bothe their teamfight is crap but their assassination is good so they can kill someon out of position and force a 4v5 while theyre dead. thats what elise should do

    ReplyDelete
  8. Popstar Ahri xDJune 19, 2015

I think Lee is not only difficult to play, but kinda useless too.... There are other junglers that do just as much more damage if not more and are more mobile too--->Nidalae
And he falls off pretty hard too, which doesn't add to the cause.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Popstar Ahri xDJune 19, 2015

Well they are balanced now, which is how every champ should be, but obviously are not. No one wants to play a balanced champ, if you watch LCS or you wanna carry yolo queue games you want a champion that is above balanced. --->Ahri for instance :p

    ReplyDelete
  10. Azir, Olaf, Lee Sin, Lucian - they all are played in the competitive games.

Kassadin and Syndra still are decent picks but rather in specific situations. I saw even silver players carrying with Kassadin. And... I'm lately played as Akali vs Syndra. It's for sure easier than before. But still I was damn close to beg my top for lane swap.

Mundo is just... fine. But I totally cannot see the way to carry games with him. He can tank, he cannot really kill someone or be serious treat. And why focusing tank when he's not a treat. And why even have tank when enemy adc can ignore him and be fine.

Elise and Twitch are in the bad spot, I feel. There are just no reason to play them, because they're champions doing the same but better. However I saw Jankos playing Elise in soloQ few weeks ago and he did very well. Also, I may be wrong here, but Twitch is still played in Korea, right? At least he was some time ago.

LeBlanc... it's just too early to say something about her after this nerfs, she's even harder right now for sure.

So that's not like that champions aren't viable. They have potential. There are just better/easier options. Nerfs for sure hurt them all (just look at Lucian's range combined with his E cooldown and mana costs in early... look at them and cry; and Kassadin damage, like he wasn't suppose to be assassin or smth), but for type of person, who rather find the new way to playing favourite champ than switch to the stronger one, there is still hope.

I'm really hoping the upcoming Elise buffs and the new AP jungle item really help her. I want to pick her up.

  12. ConfusedTeemoJune 19, 2015

Lee still has massive play making potential but unless you can fully take advantage of his kit (Lee main probably gold 2 or higher) you should stick with rek or gragas. They fill the same role but they are simpler

    ReplyDelete
  13. ConfusedTeemoJune 19, 2015

Visage has been core on Mundo for a long time. The item was practically made for his ult.

    ReplyDelete
  14. No surprises

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes, i love Olaf. he could use a lil buff.

    ReplyDelete
  16. But actually you CANT ignore mundo lel. But he just gets damaged and he cant do much about it. you gotta play him smart.

I can play Mundouh... But yeah. At least in early and mid game, when you activate your AOE/Steroids and you use cleavers, you really hurt squishies!!!!! You can kill em lel.

    ReplyDelete
  17. RIP 20% CDR Spirit Visage ;_; The downside is that Mundo can't really build damage items without sacrificing a disproportionate amount of tankyness because his passive and ult and the large health cost of his W force him to build 4k+ health.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Nerf to his AA Range killed Lucian for me...I hate his 500 Range, it makes me raging everytime I must play him on ARAM^^

    ReplyDelete
  19. I first learned the power of the 1v1 brolaf when I got out-dueled as a moderately fed Warwick. Outsustaining Warwick in a 1v1 is pretty damn impressive lol. This was before the new jungle and subsequent nerfs to WW (64% winrate. Never forget jungle Godwick, the Booty Hunter)

    ReplyDelete
  20. IridescentJune 19, 2015

I feel Kassadins nerfs just made his skillcap go through the roof.
He's underpowered, yes -- but not obscenely so. He still scales well into late game and has massive outplay potential and chase.

He's now much more of a champion who excels at capitalizing on an opponents mistakes instantly and punishing them. There is no game where people do not go out of optimal place, whether it be in lane or in teamfights. In teamfights, he can execute bursts on carries that hide behind the front line, and retreat to do it again. But now he needs to be far more careful, as his margin of error and ease of surprise Riftwalking is limited and not as rewarding in the early game. The absolute precision on positioning was reinforced, and now that is Kassadins greatest tool for snowballing. While he may not be like a Kat in this, he gains a respectable amount after Ludens (or Rod). At mid to late game, he can solo carry in teamfights with sniping carries (and actually surviving), engaging, disengaging, and re-engaging (with his reduced cooldown Walk) alongside pure bursting those out of position in teamfights before, during or after it and split pushing like a god with the dual use of distractions. Just my 2 cents.

  21. Kassadin
Suffers from LCS syndrome. When a champion gets butchered but is seen rarely in the lcs so they don't touch them again. He has crap damage compared to every other mage, little cc, and nothing to deal with the huge buffs to tanks. If they reverted the Kassadin nerfs, he'd be fine. He was overbearing because insane mobility + Weak tanks = Fuck.

    Elise
LCS Syndrome. Weak but was seen in the LCS dat one tim so must be k rite?

    Leblanc
Tank meta + nerfing her wrong

    Syndra
Actually would be perfectly viable and strong even, but she has a disgusting amount of bugs which is the real reason for her crap win rate.

    Azir
    Strong but difficult to play.

    Olaf
    LCS syndrome + mobility creep.

    Lee Sin
Difficult to play. At most decent if mastered. Mastery of any other top tier junglers is better and easier. Shouldn't be played.

    Twitch
Probably the weakest ADC in the game. If you want a late game carry, why not Vayne, Tristana, Ashe, even Caitlyn and Sivir.

  22. MasterOfMetalJune 19, 2015

in terms of her kit she is one of my favorite champions since she is so fun, but she needs higher ratios, as her kit better suits an assassin than a bruiser, and building her full ap is not rewarding enough, as opposed to picking up Mpen, and then building tanky, at least thats what i think

    ReplyDelete
  23. I personally find his damage rather pathethic, but maybe you're right. I rather play against him, not as him, so I can missing something. xd

    ReplyDelete
  24. Daniel KasmanJune 19, 2015

All of what you said is true, but the issue is that when the opponents AREN'T making mistakes, there's little you can do. Two sides of the same coin.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Daniel KasmanJune 19, 2015

that patch 4.20 just made is winrate... high

    ReplyDelete
  26. Daniel KasmanJune 19, 2015

None of those champions are terrible lol. Teemo has a blind which is, in and of itself, a reason to play him (not to mention he's a massive lane bully). Yorick is THE lane bully with crazy sustain and poke. His ult on a good assassin player refreshes all their cooldowns (yes their ult believe it or not) and gets you an easy 2-3 kills in a teamfight off that one assassin. Brand has insane damage and a 2 second stun.... so... I think that speaks for itself.

    ReplyDelete
  27. play ap lucian ^^

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mac MorrisJune 19, 2015

Elise buffs + new ap jungle item incoming... now elise will have 2 viable build paths each better than she currently has!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Elise is such a nice champion. It was nerfed because of how well she synergizes with some comps and in teamplay thus leading to high pick and winrates in LCS and Team 5v5. A champion that was perfectly balanced for solo q but looks really weak now but in the right hands she can still do well.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The only viable build for her is tanky. She actually does some nice damage if you build magic penetration items while being tanky. I've always had success with that build. Just make sure you build full tank when your team has none.

Riot should try to make 2 different build paths for her and make assassin elise viable without making tanky to op.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 4.20 blazeit. Getting free ~200 true damage on his ult (from challenging smite) was disgusting. I felt like a scumbag playing Warwick during that patch.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes... I remember the oldish golden warwick in the jungle HAHAHAHAHA IT was funny. so OP warwick season :DD

    ReplyDelete
  33. DarthLeonJune 19, 2015

Mundo was hurt alot by the recent buff to botrk which made it apply lifesteal on the %health passive. I still enjoy playing him but you're never gonna kill a Kalista or Vayne 1v1 anymore. The Botrk and BT lifesteal is too much.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ValvravesJune 19, 2015

idk about you guys but i've been finding alot of success with full tank elise mid

I agree with this, Lee Sins are an easy win when I'm against them (Gold I)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Why not just play her top if you're going full tank, by going mid you remove an AP caster from your team unless they go top :/

    ReplyDelete
  39. Syndra isn't even that buggy, she's just weak imo. I play her and used to play her a lot, and she just doesn't feel as strong as other CC/single target beasts like ahri

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jens ColeJune 20, 2015

Nidalee should be included in top lowest winrates. She may be good in jungle, but it's mid lane Nidalee (no longer viable in my opinion) that makes her winrate so low even though many consider her OP.

    ReplyDelete
  41. FirekarkonJune 20, 2015

  42. ValvravesJune 20, 2015

cuz you can still do damage to squishies in mid and bot by building full tank this way you always have a front line presence

    its very viable

  44. weifk wfewferJune 20, 2015

I've been saving up ip to spend on champs, and Kassadin seems really fun and cool, but his low win rate shows that he he's either super hard to master, or just underpowered. Is it worth buying him?

    ReplyDelete
  45. The JokerJune 20, 2015

I personally like him but he's more of a picking off people kind of champ and not that great at teamfighting which is really important in the tank meta where teamfights last more than 7 seconds long.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Kassadin, Syndra and Azir are hard to use.

Lee Sin is a good jungler but many noobs use it wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  47. ConfusedTeemoJune 20, 2015

I hate saying this as a regular Lee sin hater but I think it's time for the jungle mains to start practicing him... Based on recent buffs I think he will be getting a small one soon. What will it be? Who knows? Maybe slightly better scaling or reverting an old nerf. It's coming. Still probably won't be great in low elo but meh

    ReplyDelete
  48. yo, nigga ain't no rat :_:

    ReplyDelete
  49. what the... wait..taric..#8 winrate...i... http://www.lolking.net/charts?region=na&league=ranked&type=champion-winrate&range=monthly

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kassadin right now is quite underpowered damage wise but if you are really good at dodging skillshots then you will do well with him due to the fact that his ult lets you dodge. Due to this if you can dodge your opponents skillshots then you will outrade them, but if you dont dodge the skillshots your opponent will outrade you every time. Also the fact that he cant instantly delete someone makes him hard to play in teamfights and not as viable as other assasins who can instantly kill someone and escape, such as Lb and Zed.

See "general lowest winrate" and it becomes different.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Gabriel Thomazine DamettoJune 21, 2015

Syndra is awesome if you can combo with her. I've been playing her recently, and she has good laning phase and a combo that KO everyones. Though, Annie is pretty better than her with lower mechanics.

    ReplyDelete
  55. SquirrelNutkinsJune 21, 2015

That's in norms. Ranked is more accurate, assures people are playing to the best of their abilities (or should be) by division.

  56. Tonight, we Hunt!June 21, 2015

Yeah sorry but I couldn't think of any bad champs on the top of my head :p I'm just using the lesser played champions as an example to prove my point about winrates

  57. Eric ValkenaarJune 21, 2015

lee sin was buffed at the start of the season, he's not weak people just dont know how to play him. i like him top because he destroys people with the extra ad they gave him with jungle revision.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ConfusedTeemoJune 22, 2015

Relative to what he has been in the past he is weak. Now he is only viable if you have >high gold mechanics on him with probably 50 games of practice

    ReplyDelete
  59. Enzo Di CapriJune 22, 2015

Lee sin is one of the top 5 jungle in korea, u can get advantage from early and finish within 20 min. when i watched EU and Na games, i laughed when i saw players building pure tanky items after the jungle item lol Once again it s like people suck at maths and cant read skills ratio ... building mainly AD on leesin allows a 1000damage ult, so a qrq or qqr combo eradicates any squishy. building tank on leesin is so dumb as they are much better tank-oriented jungles with better CC and better natural tankiness.

    ReplyDelete
  60. But cho'gath builds damage and gets tanky for free... if the laner can avoid the early bully then the scale so much harder mid game

    ReplyDelete
  61. Camilo LizarazoJune 22, 2015

she is bug too. sometimes tu stun comes the other way around...

  62. You should do top 10 tower pushers

    ReplyDelete
  63. The TowerJune 23, 2015

Jinx, Udyr, Tryndamere, Master Yi, Yasuo, Tristana, Twitch, Olaf, Graves, Warwick

I'm guessing that would be the list, not necessarily that order though.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I started playing Kassadin a week ago and it was yesterday when i lost my first game playing him. A Yasuo that i was dominating, late in the game destroyed me. Kassadin is really fun to play, i always like his play-style but his low damage is a real issue. If Kassa gets a little buf on his Q that would teleport him to the god tier list, but by the moment he's not a strong champion in team fights and can easily die with hard cc. Sorry for my bad english.

completely forgot about her, should be somewhere at the top of the list.

    ReplyDelete
  70. MarbleWolf GamingJune 25, 2015

The reason Lee is at the bottom of the list is because of how difficult he is to play. At Master or Challenger you see much better Lee Sin performances and high win rates. It's also pretty apparent in LCS

    ReplyDelete
  71. MarbleWolf GamingJune 25, 2015

Tank does work depending on the team comp. I agree most people don't get when to build tanky.
If you build tank Lee Sin you become a mini-meatshield xD and a high utility tank. U can kick their carry into your team using a Q-R combo and then u've practically won the teamfight.

Also, Lee Sin can't carry late game. You want to build tank as your last 2-3 items so that you can actually survive teamfights after 40 minutes in a world full of assassins and mages with 1.5k+ damage combos (no resists) and adc's with 1k crits (no resists).

Plus, u actually have to be within melee range to use ur R. if it doesn't kill them, ur screwed.

I agree to build AD during the first 30 minutes so u can push hard, but once full-scale teamfights start, you want to have armor, MR, and health under your belt.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The TowerJuly 09, 2015

He isn't as good as the others simply because he can't take towers as fast. The others provide a much greater threat of you losing a tower if you don't send someone to defend. That is what really makes split-pushing successful, forcing them to have to defend you.
