Thoughts on 1v1 and 2v2 Showdown

So it's been about two days since the release of the 1v1 and the 2v2 game mode, and all I can say is
TRAINING SESSION IS OPEN!

Best Parts of Showdown

This mode is the perfect way to practice all those champions that you wish you could play, but are reluctant to go into an AI bot game or suffer through 40 minutes of humiliating belittling and defeat to learn.

It's also a super fast mode to try out your favorite cheese strategies in a queue full of willing guinea pigs! Whether you plan on hiding in a bush with Tiger Udyr and red pot or want to run a Jarvan + Leona combination, this is the place to do it!

Here's just a sample of what you can do...brought to you by ModgePodg3

Most Annoying Part of Showdown:

The fact that the summoner skills keep defaulting back to flash + barrier is pretty annoying...especially when you flash barrier someone for the kill.

Also, there are some champions that have the potential to be monstrously annoying, but there will never be enough bans...

Showdown Tips

  1. If you plan on going all in before level 3, get a red pot. It gives an INSANE amount of HP and damage for its cost. Blue pot may be worth it if you know your damage output very well.
  2. If you're going adc vs adc, the first one to make the other back off will probably win. But if you're playing an AP mage, with high burst, feel free to jump back to the well if you miss one too many skillshots. They'll eventually die at level 6.
  3. If you're a melee champion, utilize the side bushes; if you're ranged, for the love of god don't go into them unless you see the enemy champions on the map.
  4. Be sure to utilize the health relics on the map.
  5. BUY POTIONS

Strong Champions (Not a Tier List)

Since each champion has his or her own counters, don't take this to mean that these are the only viable champions. I think that almost every champion is viable in this mode, especially since it's blind pick. However, as games rarely get to level 6,  most early game champions will do better than late game ones.

Here are a couple examples: Caitlyn, Jarvan, Annie, Jinx, Udyr, Xin Zhao, Rengar, Pantheon, Lee Sin, Syndra, Riven, Urgot, Kayle, Draven.

I usually run a Varus/ Syndra or a Varus/ Lux combo, still a 100% winrate and almost all games end before lvl4

i just play syndra or other high burst champs and wait for 6. They can be 20 cs ahead and have my tower at 200 hp and i will still win just because i can all in. Whatever you guy do though, DON'T PLAY HIEM his turrets give cs, i'm pretty sure.

  14. I have played a lot lately and I've come to discover that fiddle/ashe is the best combo there is at the moment. You rush to the enemies bush at the beginning and fiddle levels his e first silencing them both or one and giving ashe some autoattacks on them. With fiddle you max e first. On level 2 you take q. Once an enemy with burst potential tries to come in you just e and/or q them and with that e you damage a lot of minions too. You keep your ground in the bushes as fiddle and keep aa until one of them gets close to you then you might fall back or hide with e/q. With e you have a really strong early game poke and a nice wave clear ability, combined with ashe's w that is too a nice poke/wave clear you will push easily to the enemy turret for them losing some cs and your minions hitting the turret.

The team also has potential to kill someone begin game if you are quick. If you are in their bush before any of them arrive and one of them facechecks solo, fiddle's e + ashe's w give nice cc and enough damage to probably kill them with the following auto atttacks and maybe a flash and ignite.
Once you both hit 6 just keep poking and pushing waves until one of the enemy is low enough and overextends a little. Ashe ultis and fiddle charges ult at the same time and fears after. It should give you an easy kill.

I didn't come along any counters to this yet. But I usually ban Lee Sin because he's so hyper-mobile and I don't think I can fear him quick enough or silence him quick enough.
