Is Support Ashe a Viable Pick?

With the recent nerf to sustain supports along with Chauster's video complaining that nobody tries to change up the meta, this might open up a door to a brand new support: Support Ashe

Before you go on to say that support Ashe is troll, think about what makes Blitzcrank a good support: The ability to initiate and the ability to CC opponents. Ashe can do both of these and more.

Let's take a look at her skillset:

Passive: Focus While out of combat, Ashe's critical strike chance increases by 3/6/9/12/15/18% every 3 seconds, removed after next attack. Focus will now display a buff showing how much extra crit chance Ashe has.
This passive is maximized as a support hero. In a role that doesn't need to last hit, Ashe can maximize her crit chance while hiding in the bush and throwing volleys.
Q: Frost Shot Toggle: Ashe's basic attacks slow her target's movement speed by 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35% for 2 seconds.
The move that makes Ashe so annoying, it gives you the ability to chase down enemies and kite them as well. Since her base speed is over 1 attack every 2 seconds, she loses nothing from having no attack speed items.
W: Volley: Ashe fires 7 arrows in a cone dealing attack damage + 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80. Volley also applies Frost Shot.
This gives Ashe the ability to AOE slow, and with P-stone and utility masteries, she gains the ability to spam this move, even without blue buff.
E: Hawkshot Passive: Ashe gains 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 extra gold whenever she kills any unit.
Active: Ashe animates a Hawk to scout for her, revealing terrain as it flies toward target location.
This skill has a two part benefit for Ashe as a support hero: She passively gains extra gold from her limited CS, and the vision she can provide for her team essentially removes the need to run CV.
R: Enchanted Crystal Arrow Fires a large arrow in a straight line. If it hits an enemy champion, it will stun that champion for up to 3.5 seconds, based on the distance the arrow traveled, and deal 250 / 425 / 600 (+100% of ability power) magic damage. Additionally, surrounding units take half the damage and are slowed for 3 seconds.
The utility of this move is pretty obvious, and along with the utility mastery tree and support items like kindlegem, she can maximize the CDR on this move (once again without needing blue buff)
CONCLUSIONS:
I'll be honest, I thought support Ashe was a pretty troll move at first, but after seeing it in action 5 or 6 times while I was the AD carry at upper 1400 elo, I'd say that it's a viable strategy and easily beats Blitzcrank or Soraka lanes off harass and late game utility.

I will however, say that it requires a great deal more skill to play as support Ashe than support Soraka or Sona, and it might not work for everyone. If you decide to play support Ashe, you'll need to know when you CAN harass, and when you'll just end up taking more damage than you dish out.

Naturally, landing your ultimate is also very key in playing Ashe no matter what role you're in.

  1. I want to try this, since I usually try to carry with Ashe and sometimes get beat out in lane due to the lack of steroid.

  2. Support Ashe is for players who finally realize that healing does not make you a good support. Personally, I think Riot should release more support champs where healing isn't their main role. That makes for boring/passive gameplay.

On another note, Support Viktor is pretty good too. :)

  3. Support ashe has no placeon solo q as she is for counter jungling. if your not getting more out of your E than your R, I dont know what your doing. Ashe+Trynd. Build averice blade and zekes together ( auras may stack once .) Play safe; do not openly engage, harass and farm only. From there, build normally. I take 10.8 flat cdr in runes, but if your in a premade someone can build a soul shroud. Trynd is crazy when he is luring 10% of the time. I take CV and ether flash or heal. I wouldn't recomend building it unless you are building a wriggles as a bruser and warding the hell out of the jungle.
CV is like cdr. The more you have, the more usefull it is per capita.
