How to Beat Miss Fortune
Miss Fortune spends most of a team fight being the least threatening person in it, and then presses one button and is the only one who mattered.
She's a strange champion to play against because the lane and the team fight are two different problems with two different answers. In lane she's a bully with a bounce that punishes you for standing near your own minions. In a team fight she's a stationary channel that either hits five people or hits nobody, and which of those happens is decided by where everyone was already standing. Neither half is subtle. Both halves are lost by teams who react to her rather than to the shape of the fight.
- A way to break a channel, or a reason for her not to start one
- Something that stops the bounce from being free in lane
- Enough discipline to fight her spread out rather than in a corridor

Miss Fortune Overview
Strengths: What Makes Her Dangerous
- The bounce makes standing behind a minion a mistake. Double Up [Q] means the safest looking spot in the lane is the one she's aiming at, and it costs her nothing to check.
- Her damage arrives without a setup. She doesn't need to be ahead, in range or in position for very long. A short window of line of sight is enough.
- She's faster than she should be out of combat. Rotations, escapes and repositions all happen at a speed that keeps catching people who thought they'd walked far enough.
- Her ultimate is the largest team fight button in the role. Bullet Time [R] is a wall of damage (three seconds of it) that ends fights nobody had lost yet.
- The slow sets it up on its own. She doesn't need a team mate to hold people still for her. The two spells go together and both are hers.
Weaknesses: Where You Get In
- She has no escape at all. No dash, no blink and nothing that gets her out of a bad spot. The speed only exists when she isn't being hit (exactly when she doesn't need it).
- The ultimate is a channel and it can be stopped. Any knock up, stun, silence or displacement ends it partway through, and most of its damage lives in the second half.
- It also has to be aimed at a stationary target. She casts it at where people already are. A team that moves out of the cone rather than through it takes a fraction of it.
- She's very easy to reach. Everything that makes an assassin or an engage support scary is unanswered here. Getting to her is the whole fight and there's no second step.
- The lane bullying stops mattering later. Her early pressure is real, but it's also most of what she offers outside the ultimate, so a bot lane that survives it takes the game somewhere she isn't favored.
Countering Miss Fortune
Based on the strengths and weaknesses above, beating Miss Fortune comes down to champions who can accomplish at least one of the following:
- Save one piece of hard crowd control for the channel. It's worth more spent on three seconds of her than on the engage, the front line or anything else in the fight.
- Fight in the open, never in a corridor. A river, a lane or a tunnel is her ultimate at full value. Open ground turns it into a suggestion.
- Don't stand behind your own minions in lane. The bounce is the reason the lane feels unfair, and it is entirely avoidable by standing somewhere she can't get two hits out of one shot.
- Kill her before the fight starts. She's the most reachable carry in the game and she has nothing to say about it. A pick before anybody has committed removes the button entirely.
If you're already locked into the matchup without any of those tools, these strategies work anyway:
Playing a Bad Miss Fortune Matchup
Play the first several levels short and let the wave come to you. Her lane pressure needs you to be near minions she can bounce off, and a wave sitting in front of your tower doesn't offer that.
Ask the support to hold their engage rather than trade with her. Every point of damage she does in lane is worth less than the moment somebody walks onto her and she has no way to leave.
Position for the channel before the fight starts. The team that spreads out while walking in never has to react to it, and the team that reacts to it has already taken most of it.
Best Miss Fortune Counters
Three ways to beat somebody whose whole game is one channel: block it, be untouchable during it, or shut it off from range. One counter each.

Braum Blocks The Bullets
His shield eats the bounce in lane and eats the ultimate in a fight (and it doesn't have to be timed to the frame the way an interrupt does).
He's also the reason her best angle stops existing. A team with somebody standing in the cone on purpose is a team she has to find a different place to stand against.

Xayah Untouchable Through It
She can simply not be there for the part of the fight that decides it, and she comes back down with everything still up while Miss Fortune has spent her one big thing.
The lane is survivable rather than winning, but the matchup inverts the moment both ultimates are available, and it stays inverted.

Seraphine Shuts It Off
Her ultimate is a three second channel, and Seraphine's is a long wave that charms whoever it hits. A charm stops the channel, so the ultimate Miss Fortune spent the fight setting up ends after the first few volleys.
The wave gets longer every time it passes through a champion (allies count), so she can reach a Miss Fortune standing behind her own front line.
Itemizing Against Miss Fortune
The first two are the matchup and the last two are ordinary insurance:

Zhonya's Hourglass answers the channel directly, because the damage is spread over three seconds (two of which can simply be sat out). Plated Steelcaps is the lane purchase and it's worth rushing the component, since her early pressure is almost entirely basic attacks and a bounce that behaves like one. Randuin's Omen is the team version of the same reduction, aimed at the fight rather than the lane. Guardian Angel makes the list because she's the champion most likely to kill you from a range you didn't think you were in, and coming back on the spot is often enough for a team that only lost the fight because of the cone.
