Is it you or Riot?

If the box at the top says UP and you still can't get in, the problem is almost always on your side of the connection, and it's usually quick to fix. Work down this list and stop when it starts working.

  1. Check the region. Make sure the picker above matches the server your account lives on. An outage on EUW won't show up on the NA verdict.
  2. Restart the Riot Client, not just League. Close it from the system tray so it actually quits. A client update that didn't finish can lock you out while your friends play fine.
  3. Look for an error code. If the client shows one (a VAN code from Vanguard, or a number in a pop-up), look it up in our League error code guide. Most codes point at one specific fix.
  4. Test your own connection. If other games and sites are slow too, restart the router. Turn off any VPN or proxy, since it adds a hop between you and Riot and sometimes gets blocked.
  5. Reboot the PC. Vanguard starts with Windows, so a pending Windows update or a Vanguard fix often needs a full restart before League will launch.

How this page checks

The verdict comes from Riot's own status feed, which carries the same messages Riot pushes into the League client. Your browser asks it directly when the page opens and again every minute while the tab is open, so nothing here is more than a minute or two behind Riot. Maintenance windows use the start time and length Riot publishes, so a planned downtime reads as "planned" until it actually starts.
