Are you looking for a League of Legends solo queue tier list to win more ranked games and reach Gold, Diamond, or maybe even Challenger the FASTEST way possible?

Don't be a meta-sheep and follow the herd, this LoL Champion Tier List gets you that sweet League of Legends LP by listing out the strongest champions that will win you games while your friends are still trying to play Ryze just because the *pros* are doing it.

Patch 9.6

This patch features a slew of suboptimal buffs on champions like Gnar and Ornn, which really only affected how strong they are at higher divisions. Most players won't notice much of a difference. Meanwhile, the real winner this patch is Hecarim. By giving him a stacking low cooldown damage boost, he's become an incredibly annoying lane bully (again).

Lastly, poor Neeko dropped down faster than she rose, and although you can still play her if you'd like, she's not nearly the overpowered marksman she was in Patch 9.5.

    Instructions and Caveats:

    • Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
    • Champions UNDERLINED may be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgment.
    • Within each tier, the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
    • Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
    • Professional Picks may not necessarily translate into good picks for solo queue ladder, the two have slightly different meta-games and skill levels.
    • The creator of this list is diamond so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.

    Champion Explanations

    • Ezreal [Tier 1 Marksman] - Ever since the double tear removal, players are mostly picking up Blade of the Ruined King as a third item after Iceborn and Muramane. There was a brief period where people tried out Luden's Echo,  but it didn't really catch on. After the change this new version of Ezreal is slightly weaker than before, but honestly speaking hasn't changed him all that much. His two item powerspike is still very strong, and at six items he's still the strongest AD poke champion in the game.
    • Hecarim [God Tier Top] - The latest buff to Hecarim involves a 10% gain on every stack of Q he hits. This ends up being very oppressive as a top lane, especially if he's up against a melee bruiser. He essentially wins any extended fight for free, and gives him a lot of damage outside simply one-shotting someone.
    • Kayle [God Tier Top] - Kayle in her current state is still somewhat weak early game. However, players that understand this can make sure to keep her safe early and reap the benefits at level eleven and level sixteen. Both of these power spikes make Kayle incredibly good, and games rarely end before she comes into play. As long as she doesn't feed too hard early, she's a huge threat later on.
    • Miss Fortune [Tier 1 Marksman] - The latest Miss Fortune build involve stacking attack speed, maxing her W, and going Press the Attack. This build works surprisingly well due to her built-in steroid. She plays much more like a traditional marksman than the spellcaster-like lethality build, but with the Infinity Edge changes this season, this is a good thing.
    • Morgana [God Tier Support] - Morgana's rework didn't change much, but has made her more reliable post-6 in terms of all-in engages. She's also excellent against Thresh, which makes her perfect for a meta that sees Thresh in a third of all games.
    • Neeko [Tier 2 Marksman] - As fast as Neeko marksman arrived, she left. With an insta-patch on Neeko, she's now considerably less oppressive than before. It's definitely still playable and can be strong if your team needs some magic damage, but otherwise it's generally better to go with a more traditional marksman now.
    • Riven [Tier 1 Top] - Riven top is tough to place. I want to put her in God Tier, but with common counters like Urgot and Kled stomping her with ease, it's tough to say she really deserves the position. She's definitely at her strongest state she's been in a long time, and once you master her I think she's incredibly strong. With that being said, we're keeping her at the top of tier one to gatekeeper all the wannabe top lane champions from getting to God Tier.
    • Sona [Tier 1 Support] - As a support, Sona provides little to no early game utility. She's easily gimped in lane, and her poke damage won't justify getting 100 to 0'ed by the enemy bot lane. Meanwhile, her late game is incredibly oppressive, providing infinite sustain and making any objective a breeze. If you ever get an ace, your team is never too low to continue pushing or doing Baron. A lot of higher level players don't like Sona simply because of how easy she is to abuse. However, if you play safe she's incredibly rewarding post-laning phase. In most divisions, she won't be punished hard enough and can result in free wins.
    • Vayne [Tier 1 Top] - Vayne in her current state is incredibly powerful, even before getting her ultimate and Guinsoo's Rageblade. She's always been oppressive against melee champions early game for obvious reasons, and she now gets enough scaling that she no longer shreds tanky champions...she literally bursts them.
