PRESEASON UPDATE
PRESEASON UPDATE
This List has been updated, and new versions are available via this link
The balance changes on this patch were far less extensive than the preseason patch (whew) but the meta has definitely evolved since the end of Season 3. A lot of heavy split pushing champions have seen high success in solo queue such as Shyvana and Mundo, and bot lane is snowballing harder than ever with the support changes. - Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
- Champions UNDERLINED may be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgement.
- Within each tier the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
Champion Explanations
- Cho'Gath [Tier 2 Jungle] - Although he's a very solid jungler with superb sustain and decent waveclear, his ganks are a bit lackluster and he doesn't excel in many areas. That being said, I think he's balanced and strong in the right hands.
- Dr. Mundo [God Tier Top] - My man, Dr. Mundo. Despite the nerfs to the defense tree, top lane Mundo is an absolute beast right now. His scaling damage is insane (even when he builds full tank) and the current state of spirit visage makes it an ideal pick on almost all top lanes. This means that for Mundo who naturally builds it, it's especially powerful.
- Evelynn [Tier 1 Jungle] - Originally I was against moving Evelynn to god tier simply because she's a bit of a gimmick champion in my eyes, but the pressure she applies to lanes is strong enough to create a major disadvantage. Her damage and ganking power is also very good, and simple to execute as well.
- Fiddlesticks [Tier 1 Jungle] - The fear nerf hit him hard, but his ultimate is still game-changing.
- Lee Sin [Jungle] - Ahh...the most popular jungler in the game. He's definitely got a lot going for him, and itemizes very well with the preseason balance changes. However, in the end he's still a very skill oriented champion that excels best at the highest levels of play. However, for us mere mortals there are better selections.
- Leona [God Tier Support] - After the nerfs to Taric, Leona is probably the strongest support in the game right now, except when the enemy team has a lot of AD on their team in which case Taric will still be better.
- Nidalee [Tier 1 AP Mid] - With the pace of the game being focused more on diving enemy turrets and fast engages, Nidalee's poking power is greatly reduced. While she can still snowball hard, the current meta doesn't favor her unique strategy.
- Rammus [God Tier Jungle]- The nerfs were actually more of a tweak, since they did give him a longer lvl 1 taunt. This means that his early game ganks are even stronger than ever before, and his lvl 3 gank is better than ever.
- Shyvana [God Tier Top] - Similar to Mundo, her damage and tanking power are simply off the charts. Shyvana's a very cyclical champion. When her damage and tankiness are high enough to compete in the current meta, she's op, when it's not, she sucks. Since she offers very little in real utility, there's really no in-between.
- Singed [Tier 1 Top] - With Mundo and Shyvana on the field, Singed's power is a little less stellar than before. While he's still a decently strong champion, there are better champions that fit the same role now.
- Sivir [God Tier AD Carry]- Nerfs hit hard, but she's still probably the strongest AD carry in the game at the moment and snowballs HARD.
- Syndra [Tier 1 AP Mid]- Her utility and trading power is very high right now after all the buffs she received in the last few patches.
- Taric [God Tier Support] - Taric's nerfs hurt him a bit, but honestly he's still very strong.
- Teemo [Tier 3 Support] - The new hybrid masteries give him a very strong early game, and his harass is decent. Without oracle his new found glorious mushroom fields are also given a huge buff.
- Yasuo - Not seeing the power so far, check out this article for more details.
- The purpose of this list is for discussion and to provide a starting point for champion selection.
Agree? Disagree? Comment below!

Hello, I'm relatively new to League of Legends as I just started playing a few weeks ago. I have a few questions about the tier list for this game. How big is the difference between each tier? Also, do professionals bother picking champions that are below tier 1? I have heard talk of Riot trying to phase out the jungler role. As I am new to this game, I don't know if that is starting to happen right now or if it is still in the future. If the jungler role is phased out, how will that change the viability of champions that are considered great junglers, but are perhaps mediocre elsewhere? Sorry if that's a lot, but I appreciate anyone that has a lot of knowledge about this game taking the time to answer my questions.
ReplyDeleteLove the list, always like seeing whats going on after every patch
ReplyDeleteThe difference between each tier is slim, especially between the borders of each tier (e.g. the bottom of tier 1 and the top of tier 2). For the most part, win rates in solo queue hover around 40~55% per champion, which really shows how much effort Riot puts into balancing each of their champions.
ReplyDeletePros may or may not pick champions that are below tier 1, as the game is constantly evolving and what might catch the eye of one player may not catch the eye of another. A lot of hero choices are also based on player preference, and some pro players may easily be able to play a Tier 4 solo queue champion at a God Tier level.
The jungler role is not being phased out, but Riot is trying to give players more options and flexibility in where to position themselves on the map. Certainly, without the jungle role certain champions will be much lower in viability, for example Rammus.
why is katarina not in really strong but balanced?
ReplyDeletewheres mid lane ryze
ReplyDeletealways more accurate analysis
ReplyDeleteHe's not viable anymore so I left him off. Just kidding, it's actually one of those rare times where a champion gets knocked off the page when I fat-finger a copy paste somewhere. I've placed him in Tier 3, as his current range makes him easy to bully at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response. That clarifies many things. There is something else that I am wondering about. According to this list, Pantheon is a tier 1 mid champion. I am under the impression that he is an AD champion. If you take him mid, does that mean that you need to have an AP carry somewhere else on your team if you want to have good team composition? Or does it not matter very much?
ReplyDeleteNot sure how to respond to that, like many champions she likely falls somewhere in between really strong and balanced, but at the moment I see her as being balanced?
ReplyDeleteIt depends how well your team is synergizing. Having an AP top is ideal, but oftentimes in solo queue you can get away without an AP, especially if your team is packing champions like Taric and Jarvan that provide natural armor penetration.
ReplyDeleteI am also a newer player, however, I do know that professionals don't just pick according to the tiers. They choose what players that fit their team's composition the best, or that counter the opponents champions. Some lower tier champions can counter God tier champions.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I haven't heard anything about Riot trying to take jungle away, but that would completely change the game! We don't know if the strong junglers would be useless because we don't know what their new role would be. They might just turn into a "ganking" role.
Hope that somewhat helps!
I see, that makes sense. Why did Master Yi drop from tier 2 to tier 3 in both of his roles? I didn't see him getting any nerfs.
ReplyDeleteAre top lane Kayle and Mid lane Kayle meant to be built the same?
ReplyDeleteI demand that you put Malzahar on top of that list. Hell, make a new tier just for him!
ReplyDelete(jokes aside, ty for the content)
Honestly I think Galio should be higher, his ult's long duration gives the ad carry time to single out important targets, and groups up enemies for smaller AoE spells such as Jax's Counter-Strike.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Sejuani suddenly not Gtier; no nerfs to her better tank masteries wtf?
ReplyDeleteAlso shouldn't hec be Godtier he naturally builds spirit visage and is stronger then ever with masteries.
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts on Diana? Was going to start playing her again since she's fallen out of the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteI build them the same, although for top lane I only pick her into certain match ups
ReplyDeleteIf they pick Garen, pick Kayle. Lane won. Place your q after he uses his slow removal though.
Solid burty champ but not easy to master for your first few games with her Q/R/R combo can be predictable so you need to always find the best timing to initiate it!
ReplyDeleteGl summoner :)
IMO it's the same deal as Fiddlesticks the Prechange of S4 really not helping and i can agree with this change since i found her early game risky most of the time you will want to do something nasty with her and then you feel like you did cost the game on those early moves shes so item reliant :(
ReplyDeleteI know that BOTRK is ideal for Kayle Top while mid would be a waste compare to what Nashor Tooth offers!
ReplyDeleteAs a Quinn player, I'll take it as a compliment that given she's dropping down the ranks. I think most of my success amounts to lack of match-up knowledge to be honest though. Still, I don't think she's the 2nd worst ADC in the game. Her kit allows her to out duel most other ADCs, but if she were to get buffed I wouldn't mind. I can't say that she's lacking in anything though.
ReplyDeleteSsshh dont tell anyone about Botrk on kayle,
ReplyDeleteEvelynn, hm. You say you didn't want to move her to God tier, originally, and you didn't. But.. I really think she belongs there, at the moment. I main her and this season.. I've been on a 8 game win streak with her in ranked. I get that you need to know how to play her to do well with her, but seriously.. if you don't know how to play Kassadin or Swain, they're useless. I think I would put her into the God tier section, really.
ReplyDeleteBut in the realm of junglers, we have people like Amumu and Jarvan IV who have scary ganking potential, especially Rammus with his early game ganks.
ReplyDeleteIf you can play her well, you should be able to carry games with her. She's not as squishy as other champs, and oh god, if she's ahead, she's so bursty, you can't really do anything against her anymore. She'll bully your entire team. Especially if she has a Hourglass and can decide to be invulnerable for a moment..
ReplyDeleteHave to agree. The jungle changes hurt her, somehow. She's still strong, but definitely slower and needs more time before she's really tanky and helpful.
ReplyDeleteAnd the cooldown? And the damage of your ult when you're the AP carry? Not enough damage output, and you can't carry games with him. I used to use him a lot, but his cds and mana costs are too high, and his damage is too low.
ReplyDeleteYou can cancel her ult very easily, and that's part of her main damage output. If you don't know when to use it, Kat is pretty much useless.
ReplyDeleteAgreed with you :)
ReplyDeleteThe big problem is the amount of people who play Caitlyn right now, currently the 2nd most popular champion right now and the most popular ADC. She outranges her drastically, which gives her the ability to zone Quinn and "lock" her at a distance. If she decides to go in, Caitlyn can simply 90 Caliber Net out. Her Q goes through minions as well. You have to switch to Valor a lot to cope. It's not that Quinn doesn't have the damage to do well (she does, and is my 3rd favorite ADC), she just can't handle the ADCs this time around.
ReplyDeleteYo! don't tell me what to do yo!
ReplyDeleteRammus got nerfed. Amumu depends on blue buff early, and is very weak when you start counterjungling him. Jarvan? Agreed.
ReplyDeleteBut look at Eve. You can start ganking at Lv. 3 or 4, and you're really FAST. No wards to spy you out at that time. And when there is, don't gank the lane until someone gets rid of it or you have an opportunity to get rid of it yourself. Go counter jungle. Their team doesn't know where you are if they don't pay a lot of attention. When you're ahead - and that happens easily if you get one or two good ganks off - you're REALLY strong and can bully the whole map. Everyone feels threatened, because hey, you're an invisible lady.
Often a champion will change tiers not because of changes to their own kit, but to the game around them (the meta). In Yi's case his resets have diminished value in the currently bruiser-centric/tanky meta.
ReplyDeleteAoE damage often comes from the midlaner, so the AoE spells coming from other lanes aren't a compelling argument to rank him higher. He's a situational pick with plenty of drawbacks, to me the Balanced tier seems a propos.
ReplyDeleteWell really, Hecarim is a jungler that NEEDS to take kills from their carries to function as a strong bruiser tank jungler and he can be quite unkillable late game, but he can't 1v5 the enemy team like he could many many many patches ago. He's just a selfish jungler and selfish junglers aren't favored in the meta unless they are kill lane junglers like Rengar or Kha. Nobody favors the fat pony anymore because of his mediocre ganks and very expensive items. He just needs some more oranges and he'll be k'.
ReplyDeleteJust played a couple games with Rammus and when I spam him in SoloQ, man is he effective. I almost never lose a game with him because of his tankiness and single target lockdown. But surprisingly I have a 71.2 percent win rate with Master Yi with 60 games while I only have a 68.8 percent wn rate with Rammus with 20-30 games. Also I'm glad that the god tierlist is balanced now. It's not crowded like it used to be. Some champions don't deserve to be called 'god' Rammus OP. Better luck next time folks.
ReplyDeleteEve still has her problems. No CC for ganking. Pretty much an invisible shyvana and her late game is pretty shabby. She does have some early laning pressure, but honestly late game champions got stealth buffs while early game champions got stealth nerfs because games are becoming longer. She still has that average 49-50% win rate while Rammus has a VERY high win rate(around 55%). I see that you have some good points that there are some early pressure around Eve, but no one is really going to be scared of an Eve when late game is really all that matters these games. Also she doesn't have sustain in the jungle, so that's also a nerf to her in this pre-season 4 meta. Eve is still the Queen of YoloQ. She definately doesn't deserve to be in the highest of tier 1 or god tier. Unless there are some type of tweaks or buffs, she's just average at best.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you can actually call Quinn an 'Marksman." Her ult makes her become melee and she has unreliable steroids. Her kit doesn't make sense for her to be an ADC.
ReplyDeletebye bye my 70% winrate w/ master beeeeeeeee
ReplyDeleteVery nice design. I love it <3.
ReplyDeleteJust one thing, if you could link the "Champion Explanations" with the specific Champion you are talking about, I wouldn't have too scroll back all the time. :P
Evelynn depends on blue buff too bro. And way more squishy but I agree with you that she belongs to God tier at the moment.
ReplyDeleteNever stop making these lists man and also the reasonings, All helps me a lot. I like the fact that you reduced the number of champions in God Tier. I have been following you for months now. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteWhere the fuck is xin zhao he is one of best junglers in game
ReplyDeleteBut currently Eve ban rate is just behind Kassa so people are really scared of her : /
ReplyDeleteI think she deserve it
Why is Rengar balanced? shldnt he be in god or tier 1?
ReplyDeleteHe's in Tier 2.
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely good and very strong in competitive play. However, I think that in solo queue he's just right.
ReplyDeleteuhhh.. so wat tier do u think he belongs to then?
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, she doesn't really need CC when she's suddenly right in front of you, Eing and Qing away. You flash? She Ws. And of course she has help from her lane buddies. If she has her ult up, it's definitely a kill. The slow, speed and maybe lane buddy secure it.
ReplyDeleteIf you win early with her and she's fed, it's done. There is no lategame. If you can't farm, can't get a kill, or you're under constant pressure of being scared that she's around, there is no lategame for you. People don't know how to handle her with the new ward changes.
But you're right - still 49% - 50%. Why? I think a lot of people don't know how to play Eve, to be honest. She's strong if you know how to play her. Q, E, Q, Q.. back off-W so you're not in the focus, run back, Q, Q, E. And well, use your ult in the right moments, on as many champs as you can. Lots of people just think 'she's a god, good damage, gg', but yes, she's squishy - if you build her wrong and don't know how to position a melee assassin.
I'm NOT saying she's overpowered, I like her the way she is now. Some people just don't know how to play her properly, and some others don't know how to play against her. Still god tier if you know how to use her, just the same as Swain and Kassadin.
Not as much as Amumu. Amumu has a really hard time if he doesn't get blue. Evelynn has her passive.
ReplyDeleteYes, she's squishy. But she's also an assassin with high damage. If you know how to position yourself, you don't need to be tanky.
Aww Lulu buffs don't make her Tier 1 yet
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is a "FOTM-and-what-the-pros-are-playing" list rather than a true tier list. IMO a tier list should be based around what champions have the most overpowered kits and can easily carry solo queue games. Also by throwing "meta" around so much you are inherently making this more of a competitive list rather than a solo queue list. That's the idea of solo queue, right? There is much less teamwork and everybody really just picks what they want. Solo queue is the opposite of the meta. While the pros may be playing these "fast engage and tower dive" strategies, I find every single solo queue game a different method of playing.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I still think your list is very well created however I really disagree with Mundo and Shyvana in God tier. Mundo's late game is absolutely terrible and Shyvana's lack of CC makes it incredibly hard to carry. These aren't solo queue god champions, like say Jax is (imho).
Lastly I think that once people stop playing Yasuo like an assassin and start playing him as a counter-bruiser peeler for ADC, they will find the true strength in his ultimate.
It's true that by using meta it brings in elements from the competitive scene, but at the same time solo queue players tend to mimic professional picks as well, which causes the "normal" champion selection to move towards that trend.
ReplyDeleteThe reason Mundo and Shyvana are good are actually due to solo queue reasons as well. Since they're inherently very tanky, use no mana, and clear waves very fast, they can create huge pressure on the map by themselves. While Jax is a very strong "carry" type bruiser, both Mundo and Shyvana play more like Tryndamere, SInged, or Teemo where they're issues that have to be addressed, but are difficult to 1v1 due to their kit.
Why is Zilean Support in Tier 4?
ReplyDeleteprobably the one he already put him in?
ReplyDeleteTy for always updating lists!
ReplyDeleteAlways helps me on which champ to buy next
I know what you mean. I played shyvana jungle since s2 and I don't really like her being so popular
ReplyDeleteKarma should be higher on the support list. Atleast balanced tier, if not higher. Her poke rivals Lulu's, and she has just as much CC in a single target/aoe slow, root, and movement speed buff shield.
ReplyDeleteADC Twisted Fate: 19-2-16, 12-3-10, 10-2-9. I don't understand why people don't add it to the tier list, I play it since start of season 2, and let me tell you I never felt so Secure playing him on ranked.
ReplyDeleteIn fact........................... he counters lucian ;DDDDDD
see my historial.
ReplyDeleteShen should be higher up I find myself dominating almost every game as Shen and his map presences is unbeatable and his early sustain is great for tough lane match up
ReplyDeleteTankgar should be, not glass cannon rengar
ReplyDeleteNote to my self. Never overextend with an enemy eve.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is the most accurate list compared to what I see in games to date. Great work as always and thanks for the frequency of the updates!
ReplyDeleteShouldn't Rengar be tier 1? He's been picked often
ReplyDeleteI main TF really hard since pre-season 1 where he really shined as ADC more than APC...
ReplyDeleteDoing such score as you did with TF adc isn't the biggest world discovery but he wouldn't be the best pick ADC to me he got the range of a vayne/urgot sort of and a skillset really similar to Tristana for the main reason that they are all AP.
You wanna put the mid & end game result with TF & Tristana on paper?
He said twice on previous tier list the reason Shen is lower than he should is that more the game goes on the less damage you will perform! (and so carrying on will be tought...and i said less damage not NO damage! :))
ReplyDeleteRight after its the amazing moves you can do with his ult and as SSJ precisely point it...summoners has the reflex to escape or flash away and its not in the hands or more the eyes of anyone to be able focusing the harras of yourself and the one of your ally it's quiet difficult and he is really better pick by far in premade!
i think his 1v1 is accurate for Tier 2 (i may be wrong i didnt even bought it yet :()
ReplyDeleteBut definitely Tier 1/God Tier in term of splitpushing & tower killer...
Because his skillset?
ReplyDeletewhy wukong is god tier , riven in tier 1 ?? riven is powerful ._.!!
ReplyDeleteSinged is still really good
ReplyDeletei would consider god tier but i see why he dropped because of the sudden burst of dr mundo and shyvana
i have been maining singed for 2 months now and he is incredible :]
Wukong is better at taking down a turret.
ReplyDeleteWukong has better impact in team fight. (Wombo Combo)
Plus read carefuly the tier list and comment from SSJ.
The difference between low Tier 1 and Top Tier 2 is EXTREMELY slim...
I see what you mean and i totally agree with your statement but well the main reason i think is legit since SSJ want the God tiers to be the smallest possible.
ReplyDeletePlus has many time explained previously a Tier 1 even Tier 2 champ into good hands is God Material.
The main reason God is God from SSJ mind is that the champion has low chance of losing the game maybe not the lane since some are freaky in their mechanism!
But they has got a better chance of comeback and/or impact over teamfights.
she might be underestimated! you are right :)
ReplyDeleteThere should be a tier 5 just for Urgot.
ReplyDeleteSo Ugly!
ReplyDeleteMuch Spam Rockets!
WoW!
Where is ahri?
ReplyDeleteCTRL + F = Tier 1
ReplyDeleteTank rengar godtier?
ReplyDeleteI think you've underestimated Quinn's ability to be an ADC. I only play AD and I've pretty much mastered most of the AD champions and I usually play Sivir or Quinn. Sivir is usually better for endgame group fights but when played right Quinn is amazing at kiting and I often find she snowballs better than Sivir and I can usually push much sooner leading to a win around level 14.
ReplyDeletevayne should never get down from tier 1, unless they nerf silver bolts, that 3rd hit gives her the best late game among every single adc
ReplyDeleteriven is also powerful in team fight , he has 2 CC in teamfight , the two CC help very much
ReplyDeletewhat is your point? There are champion that are tier 4 because they offer few thins on teamfight and late game, for instance, urgot is tier 4 because he sucks late game and in teamfights, but oh, guess what, tf adc isn't on the tier at all :-/
ReplyDeleteI dont want you to put twisted fate god tier for god sake, I want you reconsider even adding him on the list.
besides that, if tristana is an adc and can apc.... why not the opposite with twisted fate?
it seems like you have a pretty bad comparison. tristana and twisted fate work differently has adc. Twisted fate relies on stuning and bursting as much as he can, while tristana is just basic attacking all the way and then jump to safety.
adc tf deals more damage than tristana with the right build.
by tier 1 top teemo u mean like ap or ad (The Rain Man style)
ReplyDeleteDidn't say the opposite but in term of difficulty + result the award still goes to wukong...
ReplyDeleteYeah ok i get your point but where i will disagree with you is that Tristana deals less damage than Twisted Fate???
ReplyDeleteHonestly adc isnt my best but i can call few D1 or Challenger dudes that will just chock over this sentence...
The Ultimate - The Range - The Escape...
Anyway TF would be Tier 3 just from the 3 points i made above which will an irony calling it tier 2 or higher...
What do you think about top lane sustain rengar?
ReplyDeleteI thought Zilean was a good support/mid, I don't understand why he is tier 4 too :/
ReplyDeleteany feedback about swain suddenly getting god tier?, and what do you guys think about pantheon mid right now?, i melt faces with him
ReplyDeleteplus they nerfed ignite on swain
ReplyDeleteShe's slightly easier to be bulled in bot lane, the range on her snare puts her in some danger, and her ultimate is better as a damage ability than utility.
ReplyDeleteShe does work better in solo lanes, but she also can work jungle and support. Theory stands as "why should I take Karma support when I can put her mid and put Lulu support".
Define "easier to be bullied." Sure, she has to stay near the enemy to root them but it' still a good distance. Karma is not meant to be a utility support, she is designed for high damage poke. Lulu offers better utility but Karma is more immediately frightening because of her high burst even without ap items. Karma can fit the utility/cc role if needed, but that is simply not why she's used.
ReplyDeleteVery tanky and powerful in team fights, good in lane.
ReplyDeleteHas Volibear gone up? Or has his competition just been nerfed?
ReplyDeleteWukong jungle should definitely be higher.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Shen standing so low? He's one of if not my favorite top champion, he isn't that good anymore? Same for Vladimir, really like the utility and ult in teamfights..
ReplyDeleteShould add Taric to top lane. A skilled Taric player will shut down any AD champ in a solo lane (Nasus, Olaf, Jax, Panth, Talon, Riven, Renek, etc etc)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/104406503@N07/11264900433/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/104406503@N07/11264859964/ Also had a 9 game winning streak with him top.
ReplyDeleteSo much killsteal xD
ReplyDeleteNo move on Rengar?
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you put kennen adc in the list? I think it's quite OP, and there isn't so many adcs with stun, so, he can win the botlane quit easily, besides. he has one of the biggests atack speed ratio of the game.
ReplyDeletePs:Sorry about my english, is quite awful.
Maybe because of Sivir?
ReplyDeleteGreat list as usual, and let me tell you, I love the new design!
ReplyDeleteI believe Sivir was in the God tier while Cait was also in the god tier last tier list patch update O.o
ReplyDeleteHow would you explain Vayne having almost the lowest winrate among adcs despite being balanced?
ReplyDeleteI think Sejuani should be in Tier 2, because her first clear taxes her so much.
ReplyDeleteFor top lane lee sin, I feel that you should move him to the bottom of tier 1 since the nerfs to w. It wasn't anything big but now he can't deny people cs by shielding the creeps right before the enemy goes for the last hit. And then getting a favorable trade if the enemy champ tries to auto the creep to get the gold. Not a very big nerf/change but still something that can be felt. Maybe put him down two spots below Udyr and Nidalee?
ReplyDeleteFirst time here and I really love how you do the tier lists and the "buffs", "nerfs", and "tweaks" section. It would be great if you added a line or two with each champion explaining their position and why to choose them.
ReplyDeleteWhy are Shen and Vladimir top standing so low? Is this based on win rate in the WHOLE community or is this when someone masters them fully to their potential?
ReplyDeletetwo god tier adcs = gets nerfed poor me and the others who main adc :(
ReplyDeleteYou should go check out TPA Misstake playing karma a week ago 1/0/18 is insane OMG definitely going to try her
ReplyDeleteLeona Jungle is better than Tryndamere Jungle? omg.
ReplyDeletePre-6 she's an ADC, post-6 make of her as you wish. I don't think of her as a marksman, but that's the best way to play her IMO.
ReplyDeleteYet another solid list. I would like a little bit of clarification on one thing though. Teemo top tier one seems to be only for solo queue (which i know this list is for). By picking teemo top you're robbing your team of a tank late game and gambling on map dominance, which can be established when teemo roams. In an era of mundo's and riven's (who both fill different roles and do them better than teemo) doesn't teemo fall into disfavor?
ReplyDeleteI just played Zac, and I found him stronger than I remembered. I ganked a lot early, and got a kill and a few assists. You just have to provide that initial burst and CC to let your teammate secure the kill. Late game, I initiated with that great ult and ended up 6/0/15 :)
ReplyDeleteTeemo's damage is just particularly high right now with the new masteries, That combined with the fact that few teams run enough pink wards to keep his shrooms under control make him very strong. Riven's actually one of his easier matchups. While he should avoid going all in on her, by blinding when she E-Ws he can limit her damage to just the spell portion of her Q, getting rid of the danger of her passive. He also tends to build liandries, which does well against a lot of tanky champions top.
ReplyDeleteYa, Leona's insane
ReplyDeletewhat happened to vayne?
ReplyDeleteShe's getting beaten up in lane since her early game is bad and everyone's running kill lanes now.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't lolking win rates (charts) for day/week in solo Q ranked determine which champs are strongest in solo Q?
ReplyDeleteTo some extent, the win rate is factored in. However, some champions happen to be played more or less due to popularity. This means that for certain niche champions only people who are good at them play them whereas for more popular champions a lot of people who are unfamiliar with them play them. There's also a lot more factored in than win rate, but if you want to go by that feel free :P
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, your 1v1 power needs to be at Tier 1 or God Tier in order to splitpush effectively otherwise the enemy team could easily send one champion with a better dueling power to shut you down as you split push. So far, a tanky rengar has shown the power not only to sustain himself, but also put out the damage when he's able to complete his set.
ReplyDeleteI found a video that was uploaded a few days ago the show Tank Rengar's mechanics. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zns8UMzTWhc
I generally factor in win rate, how much they can impact a game by themselves, ease of play, how easy they are to shut down, how well they can snowball, how well they can perform if they fall behind, and a little personal bias.
ReplyDeletewhat champions would you say are counter to jinx?
ReplyDeleteHello, I love this list, but could you make all the champions listed in alphabetical order? Would love that!
ReplyDeleteThe list is ordered based on strength, making it in alphabetical order would take that way :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing Mid Teemo being more viable than Ryze just break my heart :(
ReplyDeleteWhere is top lane Sion D:
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that Ap Kog is hard to win with, he just has slow ramp up time so in soloq where you almost always get to lategame he is a very strong pick if you position intelligently.
ReplyDeleteLeona jungle balanced? and better than trynd Xin Zhao, Trundle, Malphite, Skarner, Diana, Zed haha wat.
ReplyDeletealso irelia sudden movement to tier 3 D:?
Lulu's kit is too team comp and team coordination based >.> I hate that about lulu. unless you have some kickin' diver like nocturne or vi, her kit isn't utililized to the best extent. :(
ReplyDelete"- recently a lot of AA-dependent, low-CC junglers and top laners have ascended to higher levels of play. FOR EXAMPLE: Olaf, Shyvana, Volibear, Nocturne. Quinn's AOE blind is VERY VIABLE in ganks and fights" Uh well, this is a list for soloQ and it's for ALL levels of play. There will still be the occasional J4 or Rammus
ReplyDelete"- Quinn additionally has a reliable escape (E/R) from all of the above champions." Her E is unreliable as an escape because for a split second it brings her closer to the target and cc can interrupt her E. Her R is unreliable as an escape because all it does is give a speed boost that can be slowed if attacked by an AA or really anything. It's an average escape
"- Vision changes give Quinn's W a lot more utility. Also: Using W and ulting give her probably the best catch-out power of any adc" Extremely high CD I might add and it's only for a brief moment
"- Blind, 80% AS buff, and an incredible gap closer as Valor make Quinn a GREAT DUELIST against most adcs" Blind is a skillshot and useless in team fights. AS buff is if you go melee mode, which equals death mode for a marksman. Yeah she has a gap closer, but it's not an incredible one. She's a good duelist yeah, but she won't be dueling in a 5v5.
No I don't want to give her love. Maybe if she gets some tweaks or buffs to make her fit in the marksman meta
Oh my god, I just played my first Sejuani game this season, with the new jungle. FUCK, she's slow now. It's not even worth killing the new big wraith. Definitely deserved being moved down.
ReplyDelete(We won in the end, but woah, the new jungle hurts her.)
Irelia should at least be in the balanced tier IMHO. Her kit is so strong, and right now, I think she can beat many popular top laners.
ReplyDeleteLeona jungle is insanely strong, don't knock it until you've tried it! Her damage output, range, CC, and tankiness are obscene.
ReplyDeleteIrelia's just very lackluster at the moment :(
Because the author made God Tier more exclusive.
ReplyDeleteTalon god tier? Don't make me laugh. Orianna, Gragas, and Ahri would be much better suited than that garbage champion. Also, Riven can easily be tier 1.
ReplyDeleteLeblanc should be tier 1 or god , she's much better than a lot of mids in tier 2
ReplyDeleteDo you think that mundo is a viable support because i have seen a lot of him more than any other tier 3 or 4 support
ReplyDeleteTalon should be in the middle of tier 1
ReplyDeletegreat website i agree nearly 100%
ReplyDeletewhere is heimerdinger on support?
ReplyDeleteQ is useless, as a support you are not suppose to push.
ReplyDeleteW is next to useless; it sounds good but offers the team nothing. Riot should just reduce cooldown for QER and make W a new spell.
E is a 55% slow/speed up every ~12 seconds. It is good but Nunu can do a better job.
R is a GA which is amazing. Revive is always amazing.
Currents supports are tanky like Leona and Taric, hard CC like Janna and Zyra, and/or gives constant sustain/buff like Nunu and Sona (Alistar does all three). Zilean is just different, not tanky, no hard CC, and no constant buff. The only thing Zilean is can do is to revive his team’s DPS. As an ADC or APC I’d rather to live longer, than to revive inside in the enemy formation.
People started paying attention to Mundo just recently...like just a month ago.
ReplyDelete"Since they're inherently very tanky, use no mana, and clear waves very fast" I agreed with this part, but not " they can create huge pressure on the map by themselves". It is the jungler's job to gank and make enemies fear (like Fiddle and Shaco).
Galio is good only against early game AP assassins like LeBlanc and Akali.
ReplyDeleteLacking burst damage is a problem for him. No, his ulti is not mean for damage.
Nah.
ReplyDeleteIn early game, Teemo can torture late game top carries like Jax, Tryndamere, Nasus etc.
Mid game, Teemo can give teammates map control.
Late game, Teemo does fall off in damage, but totally worth it when you score an ace in fountain (yes, those cancerous shrooms).
I love this list! Great job man. It definitely helps bring me up the ranks.
ReplyDeleteMundo as a support is very interesting. The issue is that he doesn't really have any hard CC, so he can't do much if he falls behind. He's also a very "in your face" type of champion, but needs items to be able to do with without getting smothered. We do see him more often than usual though, so I may have to reconsider giving him a serious support placement considering some of the more obscure supports I have up there.
ReplyDeleteAccording to lolcounter, Corki (maybe not after his nerfs?), Sivir, Ezreal, Varus, and Lucian.
ReplyDeleteQ is far from useless it has a decent CD but with W you can double bomb a target and put a lot of damage and it can do a lot in group fights in the back line, the revive can turn team fights a complete 180, the e makes the opponent either secured dead or you secured free, look at The support for the newly form pro team Alliance, he make a Hugh impact and they forced EG to ban him the following game
ReplyDeleteNever knocked it haha, Leona is one of my favourite supports but didnt expect her jungle to be good. Ay tips for runes and masteries for leona jungle?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the difference between God-tier and tier 1? Also, why is Swain a God-Tier mid laner?
ReplyDeleteActually, Syndra received a huge range buff on her stun.
ReplyDeleteSo I'm fairly new to the game, and I'm surprised Master Yi is in Tier 3. He seems stupid easy to play and in my experiences is a wrecking ball mid-game on. Is this just because I'm low level or something like that?
ReplyDeleteExcuse me but 50 units extra on her arc is hardly a "huge" buff.
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on what your team is looking for, but Jax, Nasus, and Rumble all come to mind.
ReplyDeleteIt's literally the difference between being in range to be killed and not being in range to be killed.
ReplyDeleteis it just me or leblanc is insanly OP as mid? i mean her abillities out damage / out range anyone and she as rediculous escapes almost no punish for failing
ReplyDeleteSwain is god tier? Someone answer pls
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteThe difference between god tier and tier 1 is that god tier is stronger. Swain is a god tier mid laner because his base damage is insane he scales to obnoxiously tanky proportions.
ReplyDeleteO, my b, WHY is Swain a God-tier mid? And any suggestions for a mid lane champions good for mid that can be aggressive? Or someone that is not only good in Solo-queue, but coordinated teams(5v5 ranked) I know it's alot but there HAS to be someone that fits the bill.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on how to play Swain? I'm trying to pick him up due to his cc/damage. Also, I do like mordekaiser since his sustain is great. (I'm still silver, I know theres a certain way to counter people i.e ignite swain or cc kat)
ReplyDeleteMost assassins and burst champions like Ahri/Gragas can be very aggressive. They're both also very good for competitive play.
ReplyDeleteBefore I head off, what's your opinion on Yasuo? I'm into his kit (Block cityyy) and is he a viable mid laner in your eyes?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the help.
Anivia Support? Big ass wall, two slows and a stun, baiting passive. I could just be a noob scrub , but it cant be completely unviable, let alone not even be on the list.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Amumu or Nautilus on the top lane list, however I have played both as top laners and had reasonable success with them.
ReplyDeleteI agree other than Riven top lane should be god-tier. Only Shyvana and Nasus can do anything against a top lane Riven. I say this as a LoL fan more than a player, if you watch the pro scene, if riven is picked the team that has her wins top lane unless shyv or nasus is picked.
ReplyDeletewuuut, I main urgot and beat almost everybody in lane lol
ReplyDelete"In lane"
ReplyDeleteYou might be sarcastic, but if you aren't....
Hell man, if Urgot had a even half decent mid-game or late game, he would be definitely viable, but he just has too little to bring to the table, is too mana reliant, and doesn't synergise with any support (other than supportnunuke). If you ever see the pros playing Urgot, please link it to me. Also, I'm pretty sure that Urgot has the lowest win rate of all the champions in the league (Except Yasuo b/c nobody knows how to play him)
in my experience, jinx is one of the best AD carry duelists just because of the burst dmg she does wih her W and R and not to mention having the highest attk speed steroid(130%). She wins in somewhat extended to extended fights, but she loses in short bursty fights. Champions with high burst can just destroy her. Corki has high single target dmg so he definately does beat jinx in 1v1. Ezreal... not really because he has to land all of his skill shots including his ult to really burst jinx down. Varus has those blight stacks and slow, but Jinx would rather win the fight. Lucian would definately win the fight because of his abilities dmg and passive proc. Lucian's one of the best duelists out there because of his passive. Q+AA+W+AA+E+AA including crits and sheen=death.
ReplyDeleteS1 my niqqa.
ReplyDeleteTheir kits aren't really designed for top lane, and tend to underperform there relative to the jungle. Generally speaking, both of those champions are exclusively played in the jungle, although Nautilus support is functional enough.
ReplyDeleteAnivia needs items to do well later on in the game, and support doesn't really provide the necessary gold flow.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the advent of Spellthief's Edge may make certain champions like Anivia viable as supports, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Champions who're designed for support tend to do better.
At lower levels of play Master Yi tends to do much better than at higher levels of play, because he has a fairly simple kit which can be punished by more experienced players.
ReplyDeleteADCs hardly ever duel each other...
ReplyDeleteI believe the reason that those champions were listed as counters is because of their ability to lane reasonably against Jinx and fair well in the late-game, not because of their capacity to fight Jinx in a 1 on 1 engagement.
What are your thoughts on Darius? He's been sitting in Tier 1 for a while, but I think he has really really good potential for crushing lanes. His Q harass is a huge pain in the ass to deal with, and once he grabs you, good luck getting away. Just wondering what you think, I play him rather often and do well pretty frequently. :D
ReplyDeleteHe's not the most popular pick right now, but I think he's still very strong and has good base stats.
ReplyDeleteThat is definately true. ADCs hardly duel eachother, but most of the time the supports make the plays rather than the ADC. Also has to do with the synergy of the ADCs. Other facts, etc etc
ReplyDeletemalph should be top not bot
ReplyDeleteand tryd is super easy jungle
ReplyDeleteThat's why he's high tier top and low tier bot.
ReplyDeleteTrynd jungle is a glass cannon with low farm minimal cc and no ability to survive a counterjungle.
ReplyDeletedont u think wukong jungle deserves a higher placement? hes really strong
ReplyDeleteWhy is Sivir in God Tier?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, God Tier was getting a bit crowded so I pruned it. Thanks for following!
ReplyDeleteJump "around". He jumps once. I'll admit he's a fine counter pick to certain champions, but certainly not god tier. Not when other assassins do everything he does better. Besides, once they get seekers, he can't do jack shit. Then, when you look at teamfights, the champions I mentioned above leave him in the dust.
ReplyDeletei don't quite understand the shyvana in jungle god tier
ReplyDeleteOLAF is not A jungle god... :P
ReplyDeleteI think Cho'Gath top should be at least on strong, because you really cant trade with him unless you are level or two ahead, and he has huge burst with ult + ignite that makes him scary. Also i think Cho'Gath has good combo even without his ult. But it's just my opinion
ReplyDeleteHe's very reliant on landing his axe during a gank, and without blue buff his clear time is a bit low.
ReplyDeleteCho's very balanced right now, he doesn't particular excel in any one category except sustain, but he's good at everything.
ReplyDeleteIt's basically impossible to duel her early, and she has an extremely versatile path when it comes to jungle and counterjungle. When it comes to Shyvana, it's just a matter of numbers; her stats just happen to be high enough to make her a little too fast and a little too strong.
ReplyDeleteCaitlyn was God Tier simply for her early game which was or is one of the best...many champ from other category are made this way(Riven/Renekton) while others offer tons more in term of teamfight for exemple! (Lucian/Jinx/Sivir)
ReplyDeleteWell seen Rofli. by the last update on lolking trends people seem to realize this more and more!
ReplyDeleteShe is top Tier1 why are you giving so much credit for Riven being God tier?
ReplyDeleteYou did the most common mistake of people comenting SSJ Tier list by comparing SoloQ to competitive scene...why?
Nasus & Shyva deserve god tier simply because:
- They will bullied Riven(like you said).
- They are quite popular at this moment.
- They will blow a turret fast than you.
- And last but not least they dont need to build damage like you and still deal decent amount of damage for their tankiness!
Could you tell me why Volibear is only on tier 2 top? He's able to build resist if he goes against an AP champ and armor against any tanky/assassin champ for easy kills.
ReplyDeleteIf you really like the champs you mention and really consider to play em a lot in future i might sugest you SpellVamp Quint. It synergy great (Swain for his Ult, Mordekaiser for his HP skill cost) but thats a 6k ip expense so to be considered!(Since they aint as good for other AP picks...maybe Vlad/Morgana!)
ReplyDeleteThe build you can find it on guides to start on but you will see later in time that you will never do the same build (mostly your 4-5-6th items) they tend to be frequently different.
Good luck on the SR! :)
