FOTM Report
Miss Fortune Bot
Patch 26.21 buffed Miss Fortune and took power away from Jinx and Tristana in the same week. She's moved from Tier 1 to God Tier in bot lane.
The 26.21 patch notes give her two buffs. Make It Rain [E] deals 20 more damage at every rank, so 90 at rank one where it used to be 70. Bullet Time [R] waves that crit now hit for 145% instead of 130%, and they scale harder with bonus crit damage.
Riot made those changes because Hubris got split by range this patch. Melee champions now get more from it and ranged ones get less (10 base attack damage and 2 per stack, down from 12 and 3). Miss Fortune still buys it, and our day one forecast put her at the top of Tier 1 on the bet that the bigger ultimate was worth more than the lost attack damage. The games went further than that.
The rest of the patch helped her too. Tristana lost a big chunk of her level one attack speed, Jinx lost base health and some attack damage per level, and Caitlyn's late game crit damage got moved into her early poke. Miss Fortune's pick rate went from 5.5% last patch to 7.0%, and only 3.1% of games ban her.
How to Play Miss Fortune Bot
- Abilities
- Q, W, Q then prioritize R > Q > W > E
- Summoner Spells
- Starting Items
- Strategy
- Hit the enemy marksman with Double Up [Q] off a dying minion whenever the bounce lines up, and turn on Strut [W] for its attack speed when you commit to a trade. Save Bullet Time [R] for a fight where your frontline is already standing between you and the enemy team
- Core Items
Miss Fortune Rune Setup
Support Synergies
Miss Fortune does most of her damage standing still, so she wants a support who either locks enemies in place for Bullet Time [R] or throws a second wave of area damage on top of it. Both kinds post winning records with her on 26.21. Supports who leave her alone in lane don't.
Engage: Hold Them Still
Leona
54.1% over 593 games, her most common partner. A stun at level two turns into a free Double Up [Q] and a won trade.
Thresh
53.9% across 505 games. He pulls one target into lane and pulls her back out with the lantern when a dive comes.
Rakan
The best record of any partner at 64.1%, though only over 103 games. His charm groups people up right in front of her ultimate.
Follow-Up: Stack the Damage
Swain
57.9% over 202 games. He drags one enemy close and then drains anyone who walks into the fight to save them.
Morgana
54.3% across 387 games. A long root sets up a full channel, and her spell shield stops the one stun that would cut it short.
Seraphine
53.0% over 528 games. Her ultimate charms a whole line of enemies, and that line is where you aim yours.
The enchanters are where it goes wrong. Bard (41.4%), Karma (43.7%) and Yuumi (43.9%) all lose more than they win with her, and Milio and Lulu sit at 45%. Shields and speed boosts don't do much for a marksman who's standing still for three seconds.
When to Pick Miss Fortune
Pick her into marksmen who need room to move and can't punish a lane full of poke. She beats Aphelios (60.4% over 275 games), Smolder (57.2%), Ashe (55.0%) and Xayah (55.3%), and she's ahead of Ezreal, Lucian and Kai'Sa by two to four points. Caitlyn is the one most players will see, and Miss Fortune wins that lane 51.1% of the time over 1,026 games.
She wants a team that fights in a crowd. Her ultimate gets better with every extra enemy standing in it, so draft her next to a jungler or top laner who can start a five versus five on their own (Amumu or Sejuani, say). She wins 53.7% of games that go past 32 minutes and an even 50.0% of the ones that end before 22.
Lower ranks suit her best. From Emerald up her win rate drops to 50.6%, because better players spread out and keep a stun for her.
How It Works
A Bigger Ultimate
Every wave of Bullet Time [R] can crit, and the crits went up by fifteen points. The Collector and Infinity Edge both carry crit, and the path that buys them second and third after Hubris wins 58.2% of the 634 games that take it.
Hubris Still Works
The ranged cut took away some attack damage. Hubris is still her best first item on 26.21 (52.1%, ahead of The Collector and Bloodthirster at about 50%), and stacking it through a won lane is how she snowballs.
The Rank One Buff
Most players put their last points into Make It Rain [E], so the part of its buff that shows up in lane is the jump from 70 to 90 at rank one. That's a stronger slow zone for every gank and a little more wave clear early.
Potential Pitfalls
Zeri and Sivir
Zeri is her worst common matchup at 41.3% over 133 games, and Sivir beats her too at 46.6%. Both clear waves fast and move around too much for a channel to land. Play for scaling and wait for your jungler.
Tristana Still Wins
The nerf took the bite out of Tristana's level one, but she still wins 51.3% of their games over 509 of them. Draven (49.0%) and Twitch (49.1%) are roughly even with her too. Don't take the trade every time it's offered.
One Stun Ends It
Bullet Time [R] is a channel. Any hard crowd control stops it, and Flash cancels it too. If the enemy support or mid laner still has a stun up, wait for it to go somewhere else before you start shooting.
Conclusions
Riot gave Miss Fortune two buffs to cover a Hubris change, and they're worth more than what she lost. The marksmen around her got weaker in the same patch. Take her into Caitlyn and Kai'Sa, pair her with Leona or Thresh, and save your ultimate for the fight where your frontline holds them in place.
Suggested Tier: God Tier
