SEASON 8 - PATCH 8.21

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS TIER LIST

"Best Champions to Climb With

Are you looking for a League of Legends solo queue tier list to win more ranked games and reach Gold, Diamond, or maybe even Challenger the FASTEST way possible?

Don't be a meta-sheep and follow the herd, this LoL Champion Tier List gets you that sweet League of Legends LP by listing out the strongest champions that will win you games while your friends are still trying to play Ryze just because the *pros* are doing it.

Patch 8.21

We're looking at buffs on Ivern and Karma this patch, so expect to experience some tilting shield plays this patch. Meanwhile, Riot's buffing Essence Reaver which might be good on Sivir, but we'll have to see how things pan out. It's also worked on Jhin in the past, but Stormrazor is likely still better on both champions. Lastly, the Kai'Sa and Alistar nerfs should shake up bot lane a bit, but the meta will likely remain a high aggression type of meta.

Check out the full list below!

Instructions and Caveats:

  • Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
  • Champions UNDERLINED may be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgment.
  • Within each tier, the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
  • Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
  • Professional Picks may not necessarily translate into good picks for solo queue ladder, the two have slightly different meta-games and skill levels.
  • The creator of this list is diamond so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.

Champion Explanations

  • Alistar [God Tier Support] - The early game nerf to Alistar's health pool isn't enough to deter him from pummeling enemy laners. It does mean that players need to be more careful during the early game and avoid taking as much free poke as Alistars generally like to do. This will separate the average Alistars from the good Alistars.
  • Ivern [Tier 1 Jungle] - The latest buff on Ivern effectively doubles his damage output. Most games, Ivern players max their W last. Since the buff doubles Ivern's level one bush damage from 20 to 30, expect to see him doing much better going forward.
  • Kai'Sa [Tier 1 Marksman] - The Kai'Sa nerf isn't nearly enough to make her unplayable, but it's enough to reduce her 100 to 0 potential enough to allow more marksmen to outtrade her.
  • Karma [Tier 2 Top] - The latest Karma buff brings back an old but popular tank Karma build. With similar champions like tank Viktor top doing great right now, Karma fits into a similar role but with less consistency and base damage.
  • Miss Fortune [God Tier Marksman] - Originally moved down after the Dark Harvest nerf, it turns out that Riot's got more ADC nerfs in store. Again comparatively, she's still doing a solid amount of damage even when her Dark Harvest proc isn't up. Meanwhile, no changes were made to her ultimate which is a game-changer on its own.
  • Sivir [God Tier Marksman] - Stormrazor on Sivir is incredibly broken, and now that Kai'Sa is nerfed she's easily one of the strongest marksmen in the game. She has everything in her kit that you could ask for in a marksman - engage, self-peel, and massive wave clear.
  • Thresh [God Tier Support] - Thresh in his current state is simply massively strong and difficult to punish even when he misses his hook as a result of his high passive and Flay damage. With most Thresh players going Ancient Coin, his passive is always up during skirmishes and ends up dealing quite a bit of damage over the course of the game.
  • Twitch [Tier 1 Marksman] - Twitch is one of those champions that you'll rarely see in competitive pro play, but you'll see him absolutely destroying solo queue games. All he needs is a few seconds of free hits and he can basically three shot enemy squishies.
