Vi Patch Updates
- Amumu - This guy is just...absolutely beast right now, everything about the new jungle has only made him stronger, and he's a very very consistent jungler with very few, if any bad matchups in the jungle.
- Katarina - Her damage is just absolutely beast. Her early game damage is ridiculous, and I personally think she needs a nerf on her normal W cooldown or a range reduction.
- Evelynn - Had her a little too low, she's still extremely strong, and pink wards need to be cheaper.
- Lux - Lux is in a really great place right now, we always said that if Lux was ever given a better mana pool she'd be beastmode, and well, she's beastmode. She's the new Blitzcrank of mid-lane; if the teamfight goes on too long, it's only a matter of time before she hits something good...
- Kha'Zix - I had him waaay underrated (happens with newer champions) His snowballing ability is absolutely amazing, and his 1v1 bonuses make him a very very legit laner. Black Cleaver also helps him a ton!
- Vi - From what I've seen of Vi, she's definitely via viable in competitive play. She takes a little while to get going, but once she does she's got a lot going for her. We'll see how she pans out in the next few weeks.
- Gragas - Poor guy, I'm still a big fan of him, but there's simply too much going on in terms of leaps and blinks right now for him to be as effective as before without some planning ahead and a little luck. Whiffing his ult is not cool, and while he's still extremely powerful, there are more consistent picks at the moment.
- Kennen - Still a big fan of Kennen, and some might disagree with this placement. He just seems a bit lackluster lately, and gets shred down too easily without his Zhonya. Meanwhile, champions like Zyra do a very similar job without the need to dump themselves in the middle of the battle.
- The purpose of this list is for discussion and to provide a starting point for champion selection.

ReplyDeleteI'd say he's a little like release Lee sin, he's probably secretly OP, but nobody knows how to play him well at the moment haha
ReplyDeleteTeemo's special, he's not so much about winning his lane 1v1 every time, although he's fairly good at that. His main purpose is just surviving, being super annoying, split pushing, and controlling objectives.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had much experience laning Vi as Teemo yet, so I don't really know the matchup, anybody else care to add their thoughts to this?
What do you think about Twitch? He seems to be strong in this patch.
ReplyDeleteI think Twitch is indeed strong, but it takes a special type of player with a specific mindset to use him to his full ability. Most of the time, Twitch players have difficulty finding a balance between being too aggressive and not aggressive enough.
ReplyDeleteIt's fairly easy to play teemo vs vi. Try to keep your distance (once you learn his ranges it's easy) and when you reach higher lvls just dance around shrooms.
ReplyDeleteOh and if he uses both charges punish him the very moment. It takes about 20secs to get 2 charges back

ReplyDeleteWhat do you generally build on Teemo? I like to do him tanky-dps, with Wriggle's Frozen Mallet, Malady, Runaan's Hurricane, Mercury's Treads, Hextech Gunblade and sell the Wriggles for a Guardian Angel if the game extends too much. Some friends say my build is shit, but if I play right I usually win top lane. Would appreciate some tips. I don't like to build AP Teemo, because MR and Oracles shut him down. I don't see any problem with my build, but would be nice an opinion from non-haters.
ReplyDeleteThat build works fine, Teemo's a pretty versatile champion in my opinion. His AP build isn't too bad, but you definitely need to play more cautiously with it. Oracles doesn't actually shut him down too hard, since it's nerfed to 5 min and you can just put your shrooms at the bush entrances anyway.
ReplyDeletei recently started playing fizz and i have been doing very well with him AP mid... can i ask why you put him in teir 4 (not questioning you, just wondering what your critisism on the champ is!) :D
ReplyDeleteHi lazycloudwarrior, that's quite alright, questioning the tier list is what it's all about! Fizz is actually very strong in lane, and a great roaming ganker. He wins a lot of matchups against most common AP mids, but the main issue with him is that he has no long range waveclear. This means that when the enemy team starts grouping up and pushing, he's pretty much all or nothing. (Never seen anyone poke with his fish...probably because you shouldn't)
ReplyDeleteWhile he can snowball very hard, he's just not as consistent; if your teammates do poorly then Fizz loses a lot of usefulness in teamfights.

ReplyDeleteyou build is alright except teemo does mostly ap damage so dont build wriggles and hextech is also pointless because is doesn't work with his e. But you build is alright I guess
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input Allen and welcome! (I don't think I've seen you around before) That's a good point, Teemo does mainly do AP damage. If you're intending on split pushing though, Wriggles might not be so bad (depends on your overall strategy).
ReplyDeleteHextech did get substantially nerfed, and I think that Iceborn Gauntlet might be a reasonable alternative if you're up against an AD champion in lane. Thanks for posting!

ReplyDeleteI build Wriggle's more because of the free ward, the armor it gives and the lifesteal. Same thing with Hextech Gunblade, been saved a couple of times because of these effects, but don't worry I'm aware that the spellvamp doesn't work with the E. And I play Teemo on top lane only. But I'll test the Iceborn Gauntlet when I play him. I'm kinda using only Xin Zhao since Vi was launched. But I intend to go play as Teemo again, my favorite champion.

ReplyDeleteCassio could be at Tier1 aswell, atleast in soloq. Why? Mid bruisers are more popular picks nowdays, so picking cassio blind is never bad choice (as she has very small amount of counters). And new season3 items such as Liandry's torment works perfectly with cassio. Btw, when will be next soloqtier list uploaded, next patch i guess? Because these are my favorite posts. :)
ReplyDeleteHi there! Yep, I should update it shortly after the next patch. The reason Cassio isn't Tier 1 at the moment is that she's a little unreliable (similar to Gragas), and she's also *very* squishy. With all these assassins running around with black cleavers and instant silences, she suffers a lot in the meta. She's still very strong, just very vulnerable in most situations.

ReplyDeleteWeak early game, no escapes, and needs to build up charges before she can use her stun. Her AOE is also pretty small in comparison with other champions.

ReplyDeleteYeah, he's actually been doing better now that people have been playing him more. I think he'll probably be somewhere in tier 2 in the next update.

ReplyDeleteTier 4 champions aren't "bad" by any means (except maybe Karma), they just tend to be less reliable than other champions.
ReplyDeleteich dont agree with several heroes. In my point of view especially Ashe should be at least tier 2. Since they nerfed minion gold ashes e is realy great. 5 Additional Gold a close to 20% more gold for each minion. She can play passiv lane and farm like hell. Her initiation ability is awesome in teamfights and with every single bad move u can catch one enemy player.

ReplyDeleteShaco as tier 2? Really? He's got one of the highest win rates of all champions. While not great in team fights, he has the ability to throw all of his lanes ahead and snowball them. He can also be annoying much like teemo and split push all day long.

Back a month when i played regularly(if she wanst nerfed till then),I can tell u she has awsome amount of potential and she could easily be tier 1,but really people dont play her a lot yet.She has nice CC=gj in solo queue
ReplyDeleteHi kloba, thanks for posting. Jax as solo top primarily, nid can fill whichever role the team needs, she's strong with many builds atm. Cho is great anywhere, including mid which is popular lately. Shen top.
ReplyDeleteEzreal is generally built with frozen fist aka iceborn gauntlet which gives him armor, even in comptitive play. If you mean like hexdrinker ezreal, then no I dont feel thats viable.
Hi james I thought I responded but I just noticed I didn't. Anyway, shaco is indeed strong at the moment and may be moved up a little in the next update. His late game is very weak if he doesn't get some early kills though.

ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen someone build aegis on him before but the rest of those items are fairly common. Trinity force works very well with his kit. :)
ReplyDeleteActually i watched some old games in late season 2(but now in season 3 things are way different and i just thought cause of black cleaver that this might be possible)-I think something like World Championship,idk really->WE team vs CLG team.WE player playing ezreal built ninja tabi(i think),trinity force,bloodthirster,aegis,quicksilver sash,infinity edge.It was situational build for 1vs1 dueling i guess,WE team was leading,and ezreal was really farmed in mid-game,but later CLG(awsome team) just patiently farmed and organised themselves,and their Corki with standard carry build rapped compared to Ezreal.That is where i saw it :),i love imagining sustained 1 vs all carry heroes,champions in games,anyways nvm :)

ReplyDeleteHe's not that low, he just has a weaker early game, no gap closer, and is a little unreliable with his CC compared to higher tier APs.

ReplyDeleteWhy is Garen tier 4? If you build him tanky like Sunfire Cape-Warmogs-Black Cleaver etc... , he'll be a late game monster. (his early- and midgame is good too)
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right, Garen is my main and i very rarely lose a top lane... and by rarely i mean 1 in 100 games. I always rush sunfire then swiftness boots, black cleaver, warmogs just like you said. After that it depends on their team, lots-o-magic = hexdrinker, lots-o-AD=thornmail, if they have a balance I get infinity edge, and then finish off with guardian angel.
