For those that have stuck around Nerfplz for a while, you'll know that I seldom, write posts regarding the professional scene anymore. The reason for this is partially to stay away from the drama, and also because the professional scene is such a rapidly changing landscape. That all changed today, when North American team CLG announced that Peter "Doublelift" Peng is being removed from the team after four years playing for the company.

Meanwhile, in an equally mind-blowing move, Team SoloMid instantly picked up Doublelift for the Season 6 roster. Check out the official video from TSM below!

Introduction

For those that have stuck around Nerfplz for a while, you'll know that I seldom, write posts regarding the professional scene anymore. The reason for this is partially to stay away from the drama, and also because the professional scene is such a rapidly changing landscape. That all changed today, when North American team CLG announced that Peter "Doublelift" Peng is being removed from the team after four years playing for the company.

Meanwhile, in an equally mind-blowing move, Team SoloMid instantly picked up Doublelift for the Season 6 roster. Check out the official video from TSM below!

How it Happened

On Saturday, October 31st 2015, 18:40 PST, CLG announced that they are parting ways with Doublelift. Official sources cite that the reason behind the departure is as follows:
"Disagreements...over the course of time have created a heavy burden on the relationship between Doublelift and the organization"
Despite the fact that CLG continues to acknowledge Doublelift as "One of the best players in North America", it seems that they couldn't resolve the internal conflicts successfully between the parties.

Meanwhile, during the course of the current season TSM contemplated replacing their own AD Carry "Wildturtle" as a result of poor performance near the end of the season. Although they ultimately decided to retain his services through to the end, it appears that they were still on the hunt for an upgrade.

When the CLG news hit the fan, it wasn't long before Doublelift became part of Team SoloMid a mere "few hours later". In rapid transition, Doublelift converted from CLG Superstar, to Teamless Hobo, to TSM's new ADC all in one day.

WildTurtle's Fate (Updated)

Later in the day, Team SoloMid also released their official statement concerning Wildturtle, their previous AD Carry.

Officially, Wildturtle will temporarily remain part of the TSM organization as a "part of the substitute roster, and is looking at starting AD Carry positions for other teams."

Doublelift's Reasons for Joining TSM

While his disagreements with CLG are in the past, Doublelift looks to the future with victory on the world stage in mind. Together with fellow North American superstar Bjergsen, Team SoloMid's prospects to win regionals next year are looking brighter than ever.

However, it remains to be seen if they can win against the Asian and European powerhouses that dominated the World Stage this year.
