Weird Picks #65: Jungle Leona

Leona is arguably one of the most entertaining supports to play. She has the ability to initiate teamfights and absolutely ruin a marksman's day. Her crowd control is second to none, and anybody who is unfortunate enough to get hit by a Zenith Blade quickly finds out there are worse things than getting hit by a Morgana snare.

Meanwhile, did you know she actually works as a jungler as well? Check out the scoop below!

Weird Picks #64: Talon Support

Oh god, SSJSuntastic's completely out of ideas. This site sure has gone downhill from the glory days when he was posting TheOddOne's quotes on Ezreal...Talon support? Unsubscribed.

WAIT

Before you go, hear me out, just for old time's sake.

Talon support is not an amazing professional level pick. But, we're not professionals. Except for Faker, an avid reader of this blog (in my dreams). Meanwhile, players are prone to overextending and underestimating champions, especially when they're "off-meta".

Talon support works in low divisions. Do it. It's fun.

Weird Picks #63: Morgana Top

Morgana is known for her extremely safe laning phase. Her ability to push indefinitely from long-range combined with her gank-proof Black Shield means that staying even is a cinch, even if you get camped. She used to be an extremely popular pick from Asia, but has since been replaced by faster AOE crowd-control champions like Gnar. However, she can still be viable, especially in solo queue.

FOTM Report: Miss Fortune Support at World's Semifinals

In an interesting twist to the classic AP Miss Fortune support we covered in #39 of Weird Pick Wednesdays, ROX Tigers played a hybrid Miss Fortune support yesterday against SKT to GREAT effect. Despite audience disbelief, not only did ROX Tigers end up playing it a SECOND time, but SKT proceeded to ban out Miss Fortune for the remainder of the series.

How is it possibly viable? Check out the full analysis below!

Weird Picks #62: Ryze Jungle

Ryze is one of the all-time favorites in Korea and for good reason. His powerful late game burst damage combined with his durability results in an extremely potent AP caster, typically played as a mid or top lane champion. However, Ryze jungle is surprisingly effective with his fast mid-game clears and excellent point-and-click two-second root (with Flux on).

Weird Picks #61: AP Zac Mid

In today's meta, Zac is an extremely dominant jungler who is the third most picked and the most banned jungler in the game. This is a result of his high burst damage ganks that wreck havoc on immobile marksmen, a cornerstone of current strategy.

Meanwhile, playing him mid also offers great potential for fun. By playing him as an assassin-based ganker, Zac can catch many enemies off-guard with his unusually strong all-in abilities.

Weird Picks #60: Full AP Maokai Mid

Hey everyone! Sorry for the low post volume lately, work is absolutely wrecking my sleep schedule. Anyway, today we have a fun build that is mostly derived from an ARAM setting. However, in games where fights seem to avoid objectives like the plague, forcing an extended dance allows this build to really shine. Check out the details for full AP Maokai mid below!

Weird Picks #59: Inescapable ASPD Tahm Kench

A traditional Tahm Kench is immensely tanky and near impossible to kill. This beast from the deep excels in pulling enemy champions out of the fight and spitting them out in awful positions where they find themselves surrounded by crowd-control and quickly taken out.

However, an alternative build to Tahm Kench changes him from a pure front-liner to a duelist, specializing in running down enemies and split-pushing a solo queue team to victory.

Depending on your playstyle, this second build may be more to your liking. If so, read onwards...
