Trinity Force Rapid Firecannon TF Trolling or No?

Twisted Fate Guide

Hybrid Twisted Fate Domination

This build is by no means "new", and is something that AD Twisted Fate mains (all three of them) have used for a long time. Trinity Force is a great alternative to traditional AD items since he's more of a hybrid champion, and Rapid Firecannon is perfect for extending his W range.

However, recently Jebsu 1v9 broke into single digit ranks with this build as a mid-laner and players are wondering...is he onto something?

Check out how players are using him below!

Rune Setup

How It Works

High Sustained Damage
As a hybrid on-hit build, this build naturally does more sustained damage than Twisted Fate's AP build, which specializes in burst damage on poke. He's also slightly more tanky early as a result of the Phage from Trinity Force, which allows him to duel champions earlier than he would with a standard Rod of Ages build.

Klepto Synergy
Klepto works extremely well with Twisted Fate's Pick-a-Card [W], since he can proc it simply by pulling the card. If he hits his stun, it's a free double Klepto stack. While Lethal Tempo may be better overall, this build isn't lacking the damage or attack speed to take down enemy champions quickly in a split-push situation.

Faster Power Spike
By switching to Trinity Force over Rod of Ages or Lichbane, Twisted Fate gets a faster power spike and is able to duel more opponents. Although he doesn't particularly need to duel if he's 3v2 ganking bot lane post-6, this build also allows him to abuse melee champions and survive jungle ganks more effectively.

Potential Pitfalls

Mana Starved
This build is severely lacking in mana items other than the sheen component in Trinity Force. You still need to pick up Wild Cards [Q] first in order to retain priority on your lane, but this means you'll need to continuously throw blue cards every time your W is up in order to stay useful.

Lower Burst Damge
This build obviously doesn't do quite as much damage in a single W->Q rotation as his standard AP build. What that means is that using this build has a high skill floor, and players that are too afraid to weave auto attacks in between their spells lose out on the core benefit of this build.

Lower Waveclear/Poke
Although you max your Q first on this build, it will never be enough to one-shot the wave by itself since it only scales off AP. As a result, your team is going to be a bit more lacking in waveclear. This makes this version of TF weaker in losing situations where you need to stay far away from the enemy team for fear of dying.

Conclusions

In higher divisions, this version of Twisted Fate is much stronger than it at first appears. It has great utility and a surprising amount of sustained damage as well as snowball potential. However, if you're in a losing position or simply not as mechanically gifted, this version of Twisted Fate falls short of the standard build.

Early to mid-game this build is very powerful, but late game it falls off due to his low range and difficulty surviving. Even though Jebsu's hit high challenger with this build, it's likely more than the pick that brought him this high.

Suggested Tier: Mid Tier 2
