Have you seen this sparkly new item on the rift yet? If not, you should be. It's incredibly powerful, and support players are rushing it for its insanely good effects. It gives great regeneration, and its active can be absolutely game-changing.

How Strong is Redemption?

Have you seen this sparkly new item on the rift yet? If not, you should be. It's incredibly powerful, and support players are rushing it for its insanely good effects. It gives great regeneration, and its active can be absolutely game-changing.

What's Does Redemption Do?

In its base form, Redemption offers the following:

+400 health
+75% base mana regeneration
+75% base health regeneration
+10% cooldown reduction

Passive
UNIQUE: +10% bonus healing and shielding power.

Active
UNIQUE: Target an area within 5500 range. After 2.5 second, call down a beam of light to heal allies for 150 - 490 (based on target's level), deals 10% of maximum health true damage to enemy champions and 250 true damage to minions (120 second cooldown). Can be used while dead.

This effect is halved if the target has been affected by another Redemption item.png Redemption recently.

What Makes Redemption SO GOOD?

I've highlighted a few things above, and here's the skinny of it:

HUGE Heal and Damage potential
At 490, this compares to a level 18 Caitlyn's max health of 1884, resulting in a 26% heal on supports that normally might not have healing or death denial potential.

Meanwhile, 10% true damage is nothing to scoff at, especially when it's based on a champions maximum health, not their current health.

MASSIVE Range
At 5500 units, compare that to:
  • Nocturne's max range ultimate (4000 range)
  • Pantheon's ultimate (5500 range)
  • Twisted Fate's ultimate (5500 range)
  • Caitlyn's ultimate (3000 range)
  • Jhin's ultimate (3000 range)
Basically, it's really really far. Not only that, but you can cast it after you die, 5500 units from your dead body at any time during the grey screen.

Cheap Price
At 2100 gold, this is incredibly gold efficient compared to the 2300 gold Ardent Censer, which is also decent, but better for late game.

Who Can Use It?

The base stats certainly lend itself to supports with heals or shields like Janna, Nami, Soraka, Sona, etc.

It's not so good on tanky champions like Nautilus and Leona, who would be better off building more health and grabbing a Knight's Vow instead.

Conclusions

This item is incredibly strong. Although it seems like it is still best used on classic heal/shield supports, at its current power level don't be surprised in you see it some day on champions like Orianna as well.

Meanwhile, if you're playing any sort of classic support, be sure to rush this item!
