Instructions and Caveats:
  • This tier list details which champions are most popular in today's current metagame, for better or for worse. Selecting a high popularity champion and doing mediocre is always favorable to selecting a low tier champion and doing mediocre for team morale.

Champion Explanations

  • Jayce [God Tier Top] - Ever since the World Champion effect wore off, Jayce has slowly slipped out of the #1 popularity seat. When it comes to snowballing games, Jayce performs very well. However, he does not have the same kind of "outplay" mechanics that people enjoy from Riven and Yasuo, resulting in a lower position as time goes on.
  • Ivern [Tier 1 Jungle] - Ivern jungle is quickly gaining popularity as one of the strongest junglers in the game. However, even at high levels he's not quite a pick/ban type of champion yet. If you're looking for someone to abuse for free LP, be sure to pick him up quickly before the cat's out of the bag. Check out this article for more details.
  • Kalista [Tier 2 Marksman] - Kalista's actually more popular than Kog'Maw and Quinn now when it comes to marksman. She's still in a pretty awful spot, but a small group of dedicated players are determined to keep her in the champion pool.
  • Kha'Zix [God Tier Jungle] - Ever since before the assassin rework, this bug was a world class favorite for solo queue as a result of his powerful resets and 100 to 0 potential. After the rework, he is now stronger than ever before, resulting in his current status.
  • Kog'Maw [Tier 3 Marksman] - Kog'maw is almost never seen in the current meta. As a marksman, he suffers from low mobility and a lack of initiation or zoning tools. In a tank meta he performs very well, but in the current state of things he is poor in team fights as a marksman compared to other champions.
  • Kog'Maw [Tier 4 Mid] - As a mid laner, Kog'Maw is even rarer. However, I personally think this one's a bit of a sleeper pick. His waveclear is incredible and near instantaneous with Luden's Echo, and the range on his ultimate leaves very little counterplay. Combined with a Jhin, he can pummel enemies from 100 to 0 without ever getting in range.
  • Rengar [God Tier Jungle] - Most people still do not understand his kit very well. However, the potential on Rengar is immense, allowing for insane snowballing. His new trophy mechanic gives him an insane amount of scaling attack damage. This means that successful Rengars are incredibly successful, and unsuccessful Rengars end up as hairball lumps.
  • Shaco [Tier 1 Jungle] - Shaco players still seem to be ingrained in playing him as an AD based champion. However, in his current state AP Shaco is definitely the way to go. With his new boxes on his Hallucinate, his clone exploding adds an extra layer of utility and can wreck havoc on team fights.
  • Syndra [God Tier Mid] - Syndra was always very strong, but in the current patch she truly exccels. Against melee assassins like Talon and Katarina, Syndra can burst them down from a range and land massive amounts of poke. This allows her to quickly snowball to victory compared to a slow farm phase against champions like Viktor or Malzahar.
  • Thresh [God Tier Support] - The new Knight's Vow allows Thresh to continuously be useful, even if he misses a few skillshots during a team fight. As one of the most often residents of the #1 spot on support, the support buffs really secured his spot.
  • Zyra [Tier 1 Support] - Similar to Jayce, after the World's effect wore off, players are going back to the hook supports and Alistar, which simply feel more dominant in solo queue.
