Ever since Ivern's release, players are searching for new combos to make some of the fanciest bush comps around. Last week while we were discussing the best usage for Caitlyn's traps, one commentor mentioned that it would be cool to see a composition completely built around bush control. Thus, we've put together one that is extremely potent for kiting, and super fun to play!

Introduction

Ever since Ivern's release, players are searching for new combos to make some of the fanciest bush comps around. Last week while we were discussing the best usage for Caitlyn's traps, one commentor mentioned that it would be cool to see a composition completely built around bush control. Thus, we've put together one that is extremely potent for kiting, and super fun to play! Thanks for the idea Sky!

Champions

Caitlyn [Marksman] - The massive utility from her cupcakes allows this team to team fight without getting instantly dove and killed. This team is an early to mid-game team, and suffers if the game draws on long enough for tanks to survive through the poke. However, with good trap placement this team can split-push in 1-3-1 formation with Teemo and Rengar on the sides to their heart's content.

Meanwhile, her synergy with Ivern is also extremely good, and can quickly proc bonus headshots via Ivern's bush mechanic to dominate the lane.

---

Teemo [Mid] - Some people argue that Teemo mid is not good, and would prefer to see Nidalee mid in this composition instead. However, Teemo's abilities mid can work extremely well against melee laners or if you manage to pull off a cheese play early on. As a sustained damage dealer, Teemo has a high potential for outplaying one or two spells from levels 1-3 and then going all-in on enemy champions.

Additionally, Teemo is one of the safer mid-laners post-6 as a result of his free wards and rapid movement spells. For this composition, Teemo has free reign to go invisible in extended locations from Ivern's bush generation. Just try not to stand still in a small bush, since that just makes you an easy target for skillshots.

--

Ivern [Support] - The core champion of this build, Ivern is very misunderstood right now. Players are still getting used to his kit, which resulted in an extremely low win rate on release. However, by playing champions that synergize well with his kit, Ivern is a keystone in successful team compositions like this one. Be sure to generate bushes for Rengar to hop through as well as for Nidalee's speed boost. The single target dive potential on this team is absolutely insane if you can land your root. Just beware of Orianna ultimates.

---

Nidalee[Jungler] - One of the most powerful junglers in the game, Nidalee's success may make or break this team compositions. It relies on early game victories, which Nidalee excels at with her rapid ganking power and insane early game burst damage. If possible, snowball top or mid since bot lane will likely be pushed into the enemy turret.

---

Rengar[Top Laner] - Arguably the best synergizing champion with Ivern, as a top laner he does not get to make great use of the collaboration until later in the game. However, mid-game Ivern can give Rengar an insane amount of mobility via the bush generation as well as the instant dash via Ivern's root. This makes it essentially impossible to escape the feral cat, who along with the Nidalee could potentially make for a pretty decent Lion King movie.

Key Concepts

  • This team is very good at controlling objective areas through use of their triple trap spells. As a result, be sure to push in for Dragon and Baron as soon as possible to make the best use of your abilities.
  • Depending on if Rengar or Teemo snowballs harder, split-pushing is extremely effective with this team composition.
  • Bring sweepers to ensure that the bushes you are standing are not warded, especially if Teemo is planning on hiding in one and moving through bush tunnels.

Countering

If you want to beat this team, pick up tanky divers with the ability to ignore the pain.

Here is an example team that may succeed:
  • Lux [Mid] - Sometimes you have to fight poke with poke, and there are few that do better than Lux. She outranges Teemo and can quickly bully him out of lane as long as she does not get cheesed early game.
  • Nocturne [Jungle] - Nocturne works wonders against both split-pushing teams and poke compositions. His ability to control the map and dive the back line makes him almost a must-have for countering this team composition.
  • Sion [Top] - Sion is the ultimate weapon against traps, and if you arm him with a Zz'Rot Portal he can potentially destroy Teemo and Nidalee traps from a distance as well.
  • Blitzcrank [Support] - Walking into traps is not fun. However, pulling enemies out of their safe zone is. If you're lucky, Teemo will be hiding in a very obvious bush for easy pickings.
  • Jhin [Marksman] - There are few champions that can outduel Caitlyn at range, and Jhin is one of them. His waveclear is excellent, and if the enemy team is getting too campy a simple Jhin ultimate will drop them like a rock.
As a whole, this counter composition is also very strong in the current meta.
