Introduction

Sometimes five players simply are not enough teammates. Instead, you find yourself wishing you had five or even ten more on your side to aid your cause. If this is the case, look no further than the army comp!

With this team composition, your army is comprised of a huge number of plants, turrets, voidlings, cupcakes and vicious tentacles to do your bidding. Check out the full details below for Ezreal's worst nightmare!

Champions

Caitlyn [Marksman] - The cupcake mistress, Caitlyn provides an extremely oppressive early to mid-game laning phase when combined with Zyra. Her team fighting phase is also extremely potent, and can easily zone off divers via her yordle trap army. She synergizes well with this team composition, which is extremely anti-dive, but only has one front line tank.

Heimerdinger [Mid] - Arguably one of the best AP lane pushers in the game, Heimerdinger is somewhat of a rare pick nowadays. However, his damage is dealt per game still averages in the top ten, and his poke/waveclear are extremely safe via his turrets. He also synergizes perfectly with Zyra support with his ultimate boosted turret, which absolutely wrecks havoc on CC'd divers.

Zyra [Support] - Zyra is likely the strongest offensive AP mage support now, and works perfectly in this team composition. With her insane number of plant seeds at her disposal since the rework, her trading potential is through the roof.

Malzahar [Jungler] - Despite the nerfs to his kit since the mage rework, Malzahar is still perfectly viable as a jungler. His first clear is a little difficult, but after that he smashes through the jungle with ease, and his ganks are competitive, especially when he hits level 6, which guarantees him a kill on most lanes.

Illaoi [Top Laner] - The queen of 1v2 and 1v3, Illaoi's tentacle spawn is the perfect anti-dive tool, which works great in this single tank composition. Her early game is also very oppressive, which allows this team to snowball early while the enemy waveclear is still weak.

Key Concepts

  • This team's poke damage and disengage are both insanely powerful, so forcing an engage is not necessary.
  • Be sure to grab magic penetration as soon as possible to prevent falling off in the mid-game with the triple AP mage composition.
  • Although this team's laning phase is very strong, forcing the team fight phase is fine since the AOE available is quite good.

Countering

If you want to beat this team, be sure to keep up high waveclear and fight them outside of their comfort zone.

Here is an example team that may succeed:
  • Viktor [Mid] - Viktor's powerful long range waveclear and burst damage will allow him to kill Heimer's turrets with ease while preventing excessive poke in lane. His burst will also allow you to safely destroy enemy squishies before they can Zhonya out and leave you fighting various mini-armies.
  • Hecarim [Jungle] - An extremely powerful jungler in his current state, Hecarim can quickly snowball against the early game push of these champions. His Spirit of the Dread also allows him to remain relatively healthy against the onslaught of minions.
  • Gangplank [Top] - Gangplank's ultimate is absolutely irreplaceable when it comes to large scale. continuous AOE that can mow down enemy armies as they spawn. His poke also works well to prevent too many turrets from popping up.
  • Blitzcrank [Support] - Diving the enemy team is never a good idea, but pulling them towards you for Viktor to one shot is generally viable.
  • Jhin [Marksman] - Against a squishy team like this, Jhin can pick up some very easy cheese kills at long range, preventing the need to fight too close to the swirling mass of death.
As a whole, this counter composition is also very strong in the current meta.
