Top Team Comps #56: Time Warp Composition

With the newly introduced Ekko and Bard, we're closer than ever to completing a full Time Lord composition. However, since there are still a few holes to fill, I've opted instead to transform it into a Time Warp composition, a mixture of speed combined with pure time warping capabilities.

With the newly introduced Ekko and Bard, we're closer than ever to completing a full Time Lord composition. However, since there are still a few holes to fill, I've opted instead to transform it into a Time Warp composition, a mixture of speed combined with pure time warping capabilities.

Champions

Sivir [Marksman] - It's been a while since our last Sivir comp, mostly because she started popping up one too many times back in Season 4. However, with this latest motley crew, she works exceedingly well. With her strong engagement power combined with the naturally fast abilities of her teammates, she works well as an initiation force. Additionally, she works well as a waveclear fiend, which works well as Zilean's range tends to be a little unsafe.

Zilean [Mid] - Desperately needing buffs but still viable in the right hands, Zilean is one of those champions that deals a surprisingly, if still lackluster amount of damage. His utility is still extraordinarily high though, and as the Time Lord himself, this composition would hardly be fulfilled without him.

Bard [Support] - After his latest buff, Bard seems fairly balanced. Using his insane amount of utility, he allows the team a lot of avenues of attack. Additionally, his powerful ultimate allows the team to set up for strong initiation and/or isolate groups of enemy champions from the fight.

Hecarim [Jungler] - Now relegated to the top lane, many are starting to forget the insane power of Hecarim jungle as well. With the nerfs on cinderhulk, warrior enchantment Hecarim is also making a comeback on the rift. With his strong initiation power, he works well with the rest of this team and can easily hit higher movespeeds than he's ever dreamed.

Ekko [Top Laner] - The newest addition to the rift, Ekko provides this team some much needed burst damage. While the team is somewhat lacking in a front line, having Ekko up close and personal means that he can quickly dash in and out, dishing damage and soaking it for his ultimate. However, he does require some coordination to pull off in combination with Zilean ultimate to make sure it's not wasted though.

Key Concepts

  • This team needs extremely high coordination to be effective, as they can easily mess each other up using mistimed ultimates or uncertain engagements.
  • Ekko and/or Hecarim should be the main focal point to place your gold on early game. As such, camping top is generally going to be a good idea.
  • If this team starts snowballing they can definitely quickly become overwhelming. However, Zilean does tend to fall off, so make sure that his ultimate goes to someone who can affect the team more than bringing back someone that will just quickly die again.

Countering

To counter this team, a tanky team with strong CC does well.

Here's an example team that may succeed:
  • Cho'Gath [Mid] - The ultimate anti-assassin, Cho'Gath does very well zoning backline champions and staying alive through initial burst damage. His silence can also greatly mess up the timings on Zilean and Ekko ultimates.
  • Evelynn [Jungle] - Her sustained damage and strong early game can do wonders against the the highly aggressive early game of this team composition.
  • Ryze [Top] - This may be somewhat cheating as Ryze counters pretty much everyone in the game at the moment, but he'd be excellent for this team composition.
  • Leona [Support] - With her short cooldowns and insanely strong CC, she can lock down squishies and kill them again and again, no matter how many times they pop back up.
  • Ashe [ADC] - With the amount of CC that this counter team provides, Ashe's initiation works wonders to start the chain of events that lead to complete and utter immobility, taking away the key advantage to the Time Warp composition.

  1. You're crazy SSJ! If Zilean ults Ekko and then Ekko ults, he'll go back in time to before Zilean ulted him but then Zilean will go back and time and the universe will collapse and destroy everything.

  2. but then Bard will take a Magical Journey back in time further and delete Ryze from the game and replace him with "Sir Meep - The King of Meeps" who is also buddies with the poros so he can summon the King Poro with his ult and all will be good.
